Yeah, what else is there to say. The entire planet has lost their minds. These are the bright shining examples of Human Rights on our planet. Examples like this simply prove the UN is a waste of taxpayer money.

However, most perversely, in what was clearly a politically-motivated choice, Saudi Arabia sailed through the Asian regional ballot with 152 votes, and will sit on the UNHRC alongside China, Japan and Iraq for the next three years.

As RT notes, the elections took place against a backdrop of criticism from non-governmental human rights organizations, who say that the body has been hijacked by oppressive regimes looking to deflect criticism and drive their own agendas. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International produced a joint statement earlier this year condemning Riyadh for “an appalling record of violations” in Yemen, where it has conducted a bombing campaign against Houthi rebels since 2015, which has resulted in the deaths of up to 4,000 civilians. The two organizations called for Saudi Arabia, a member of the UNHRC since it was created in 2006, to be suspended – to no avail.

Among other countries that were elected on the Council were South Africa, Rwanda, Egypt and Tunisia from the African group, Cuba and Brazil from Latin America and the Caribbean, and the US and the UK will represent the Western bloc, which comprises Western Europe and North America.

None of the Countries on the Human Rights Committee are deserving or ride any sort of high horse...

I, as a Brit, cannot condemn this because we are the ones selling them military hardware to destroy Yemen with.

All we can really say is that the United Nations sucks.

So the top abusers of human rights get appointed to the UN human rights council.....to make sure all efforts against their human rights offenses get opposed.

This stuff is like out of a movie, time to pull the money plugs and let that ship sink.

Almost, they forgot to put in North Korea. That would complete the royal flush.

Well not surprised at all. Didn't the UN chief remove Saudi Arabia from blacklist of human rights abusers after Saudis threatened to cut UN funding some months ago. What a joke UN has become, sellouts.

Yes:

Saudis Threaten To Leave U.N. Over Human Rights Criticism In Yemen
www.zerohedge.com...

In their Monday warning, senior Saudi diplomats told top U.N. officials Riyadh would use its influence to convince other Arab governments and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to sever ties with the United Nations, the officials said. The threats were issued in a series of exchanges between top Saudi officials in Riyadh, including Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, according to U.N.-based officials. The Saudi mission to the United Nations did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday afternoon.

Riyadh was enraged after U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon included the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen on a list of countries, rebel movements, and terrorist organizations that killed, maimed, or otherwise abused children in conflict. The 40-page report — which was issued last week and primarily written by Leila Zerrougui, the U.N. chief’s special representative for children and armed conflict — claimed the coalition was responsible for about 60 percent of 1,953 child deaths and injuries in Yemen since last year.

Does this mean that Christians can finally go to Mecca and Medina and set up churches and the like and spread the gospel now that the House of Saud is in charge of humanity, equality and righteousness?

Or have I just walked into the wrong room?

Let's not lose our heads.

The UN is a good and obvious idea i.e. a regulatory body to organize world interactions and establish a common system of values, responsibilities, and rights.

That said, the UN is profoundly malfunctioning right now. None of the listed - and even many others above that (Qatar, UAE) - deserve to be on that council; yet they're on it. So the question is, on what sort of rationale can countries accused of human rights abuse be allowed to influence the UN's official decision on world human rights issues?

The same sort of world that lets bankers buy politicians and even render their own self-interest into state law (citizens united); the same world where government officials become corporate officials in a 'revolving door' type fashion. In short, regulatory bodies - the 'super-structures' we attempt to create to maintain integrity and fairness in the functioning of system - appears to be under perpetual threat of being undermined and taken over by people with machiavellian hearts.

Something similar in nature if not context happend to the league of nation's, when this happen's it is usually before a major power struggle is go's hot on the world stage, aka WW2 in that case and in this case probably another major war involving many of the major world nation's, China's rise to dominance can only be accomplished by militarily confronting the west in the long run and they know it, we know it so it is only a matter of time before we come to blow's.

Scum bag's like the slave keeping worker abusing passport stealing saudi's are definitely not worthy to sit upon the international human right's council, maybe they greased palm's to get there but either way it is simply corruption and petty nation state's playing chess with an institution which is necessary to the well being of all people, which show's they willingly sacrifice people's well being for there own end's just like our own politician's really.
