Someone started a Classical thread and I found it a delightful antidote to 'election angst' and thought another thread, this one for Big Band Favorites, classic and contemporary, would help keep my head from exploding. I don't look forward to either outcome so feel screwed whatever happens so I need lots of help.

A few favorites of mine to start off:

Manard Ferguson's arrangement of "Green Dolphin Street":

Big Phat Band (G. Goodwin) "Backroom Politics":

Don Eliis "Beat Me Daddy Seven to the Bar"

Here's an old 1 -
Glen Miller Band - Pennsylvania 6500

And a new-ish 1.
Matthew Herberts Big band.
An excellent merging of modern sample based electronic music, and traditional big band.

1 of the best gigs i have ever been to. They were supported by another gentleman by the name of Bugge Wesseltoft. He wasn't big band, but produced a series of albums under the title "New Conceptions of Jazz", and he's very much worth a look if that's your thing!
