That just shows the power of fear & propaganda. Even self-proclaimed "conspiracy theorists" seem to be eagerly accepting the fearmongering from the media, political figures, and commentators.

Though in all honesty, I don't think it's just fear. There are many people who just flat out hate Muslims and are simply looking for an excuse to justify that hate. Just look at the responses from some people in this very thread. They proudly admit they would kneejerk attack me if I got excited from something and proclaimed "God is Great!/Oh God!" in public.

Then those same people pretend they don't understand why people like myself won't let them in our homes and don't want them close to our families. Like seriously, why would I let some kneejerk bigots w/an itchy trigger finger hang around me or my family? How much sense would that make? Then they act offended when I say they're the ones who are acting like extremists.

You're right in the fact that it is unknown to me. Like it is Unknown to most people in this country because most of us have never seen a terrorist yell that and then commit an act of terrorism. We have probably seen it on TV or have had numerous people tell us that is what happens. But experience it first hand, nope, never.

So being that I've never experienced first hand but still have that idea in my head even though I don't know if it's true or not, I would call that propaganda programming. Whether or not it's valid or not doesn't even matter because it's still something that's been programmed in to my thinking that is not of my own doing.

That is what it is for most people. If you've actually experienced that happening then that's different. Most people haven't experienced that though. So if that is what they think, it's been programmed in to them to think that way.

WE told you , like I JUST did and those NEAR the troops picked up on it as a threat.
What sane moderate would yell that in public outside nominal celebrations?

Who's "we"???

Some people on ATS???

Because never in my life have I had anyone I actually know or who can tell me first hand that Allah Akbar is what terrorists say before committing terror acts. Nobody.

Plenty of people tell me that because they heard it somewhere and they like to say stuff which they don't really know for sure is true but want to act like they're in the know.

I said, if you know it from first hand experience, fine. Or know people who do, fine. But I don't and neither do most people. They've just heard people say it.

I am a former reconnaissance specialist.
When they have a war I went to lead the the fight with the Cavalry.
With a radio I can bring any harm to any sized unit that the other end of the radio actually believes and has indirect fire capabilities for me to play with.
I had NCO s ,Forward controllers and elite forces in front and around me in the the main body, all others are support.
We usually operate in squad level elements in our nominal job once we start an infiltration near enemy lines.
ANYTHING coming my way was vaporized or we try to kill it ourselves
In the last wars our tasking changed from my job mostly to infantry work.
In Korea I was an LRRP called a CRS platoon these days,a "BLUES" scout or the ever popular "Dope on a rope"
In Desert Storm I was in Armor as a dismount/backup gunner on a Bradley. ,even though I was still a 19d100 series whom never trained on the system.

If you don't believe me yell it in a VA...get it on tape.

What's funny is since most Americans don't bother to learn any languages aside from maybe broken French, German or Spanish, they'd have NO IDEA that a Catholic Maltese could easily be overheard saying something religious-oriented they'd file away as Arabic & thus terrorism. Never mind that Maltese is kind of like the Mediterranean version of English, borrowing & adapting from other languages (including Arabic, which I believe is it's dominant root source) They'd hear "alla akbar" out of a Maltese person and think "BOMB! OMG!!" Yeah, no.

I speak Maltese fairy well, it's funny rattling off something & watching people freak, like "Ma tistax tohrog id-demm mill-blat" (which is pronounced ma tistash tohroj iddem millblaht & means "You can't get blood from a stone") Post-9/11, I'd rattle off little phrases & island proverbs solely to make my friends uncomfortable, "OMG, shut the hell up, people think you're Arab or something!" It used to be an easy segue to broaden peoples' understanding of foreign languages, but not so much anymore. Everyone's head is jammed up their ass & they're unwilling to consider more than just Arabic uses Arabic words or root words.

Related factoid: I used to work for an Indian couple who had a Sikh friend who, after spending time in Malaysia, picked up the use of Allah from Malaysian Sikhs. The takeaway is it's just another word for god, used all over the planet by various religions.

Impressive. I believe what you're telling me.

But I still missed the part where you personally experienced some Terrorist yelling Allah Akbar before committing some terrorist act.

Have you noticed it happens?

No I haven't ever heard it personally.

That's my point.

Look at the post above this one. The knightoDoom is saying it too.

We've been programmed to think those words mean Terrorist but that is because that's what we're told to think.

As scary as it would be to be faced with that scenario i would be far more scared if the very same scenario involved a military man that had actually been trained to kill and had actually killed others......
