If he broke the rules of riding the school bus then he should be punished like everyone else who breaks the rules.
if he didn`t break any rules or was not informed of what the rules are for riding the school bus, then that`s a problem.
so, the real question is did he break any rules?

Its not realistic. They dont have many opinions these days without going over the line. But its not like your son (no disrespect or insensitivity here, I apologize..) has the option of changing anytime soon.

I know the schools are overburdened and highly restrictive with their forms of "punishment". But I agree with the other poster that its seems like they are punishing you, the parents, and not him.

I wouldve explained to him the reasoning as to why he shouldnt have done it...but in his case, thats really hard. I like your explanation that sometimes his "filter" is just "off".

I and the wife work with adults with ADHD, and its not easy. Her, she's with them everyday, and I volunteer. I would speak with the school about this. Seriously. Its an issue not easily regulated or controlled.

Hey, God Bless you...I know at times its hard. Talk to the school. I would.' Doesnt seem their level or structure of the "discipline" is accurate, proper or even effective towards a change in his behavior, in which he or you has any real constant control.

Best.......MS

ADHD is a BS excuse for kids who have no discipline in their lives..

A lot of porn addiction gets labelled as ADD as it can produce similar symptoms to ADD due to how long term exposure can effect the young mind.

I was misdiagnosed with ADD at a young age and it wasn't until I thought about when I starting doing worse at school and some other life problems that I realized it was porn holding my brain back for so long. Luckily I figured that crap out in my early twenties or I would have trouble focusing still.

Sorry for the long reply.

Let this sink in. My son was just kicked off his school bus for 10 days for showing a picture of a girl in a bikini to a muslim kid. So, I will be driving him to school for the next 10 school days because of someones religious belief that looking at womens skin is a sin or something.

Great job America!

Tell the school district that driving him to school presents an economic hardship and, since the state mandates children receive an education, it is THEIR responsibility to provide him with transportation to the school... either via bus or, if they decide to stick to him being barred from that bus, a taxi service paid for out of the district's funds.

Most schools take an all or nothing kind of approach. While they preach about inclusiveness and providing a successful learning experience for everyone, they hope to achieve this by placing all the children in the same box. If you don't fit in the box then remold yourself to fit. If you can't remold yourself, and you are not lucky enough to have a fan base that is willing to mail peanuts, then you are labeled as a deplorable and sent home for your parents to reeducate you.

Parents that don't correct the problem are ineffective parents that will be punished and fined into compliance or home schooling.

Sorry you've been put on the defensive about this. I personally think it's ridiculous. A simple "put that away" would have sufficed.

right. the OP sounds fishy.

i would not buy that this is why your kid was suspended.

then, the school would ban foods products with pork to not offend Muslim children, or would observe prayer times to not offend muslims, or suspend every kid who showed nudie picture to any other religious groups.

the fact that you accentuated the religion, Islam specifically, is the cause for suspension makes this fishy.
or the fact that you post it on ATS as oppose to getting to the bottom of the matter makes it seem like something it isnt.

i want to bet a lot of money, that there is more to this.

then again, i could be wrong.

... muslim kid ...

Maybe you should ask the school system why they didn't protect the 'muslim kid' from society by kicking him off the bus ... permanently.

Times have changed; my bus driver used to let us smoke. Mainly he ignored it.

10 days is ridiculous!

This country is on a slippery slope with the PC bull, we are suppose to be offering the freedom to choose our religions, not force others to comply with such beliefs.

How do you deal with bill-boards publicly advertising sunscreen or other media featuring partially unclothed humans? Sheltering children from images of the human body is certainly your prerogative, but is it healthy? Boys (speaking for myself) are fascinated by the female body and this is just part of growing up. As a parent, if I had a daughter, I would do my best to educate her about boys and how to deal with events like what has been described here. Eyes have lids for a reason.

Let me run it down for you. My kid gets in trouble frequently at school for saying things to people. Usually they are accurate but inappropriate. He has ADHD. That is not an excuse, but he really doesn't seem to stop himself from saying inappropriate things. He is still very childish.
This instance was that he and several other boys were picking at this particular boy, who is muslim, and some girls were "offended" by it and told on my son and the other boys. He has been in trouble for other incidents. He got in trouble for them as well. I am just personally weirded out that the school system cares so much these days about what children are saying. It could have the exact opposite result than they intend.
In other words, nitpicking words and what people can and can't say will not make children understand the issue in any good way. Instead it will probably just build resentment.

Not going to come right out and say you're lying, but could you scan or take a picture of the note from the school explaining their actions from your sons behavior? There is no verbal here, it has to be in writing according to law, so please prove your case

Would you also like access to my sons medical records?

Jesus people these days are hilarious. If you dont want to believe me I am fine with that. In fact I dont even care, but there is zero chance that I would ever provide anything that could be used in the future to hurt my son.

Really? You can't use a black marker to blot out anything you feel is personal? How about blotting out, or covering everything but the explanation? Can you do that or will you admit you are lying and cashing in on stormfront, I mean ATS's xenophobia?

# I guess I should have had my wife tape record the conversation with the principal when it happened. I tell you what, I will see what I can do for you, but don't expect it soon since it was all over the phone up to this point. Sometimes they have mailed me summaries of his actions, sometimes not.

It is not as if this is a jail sentence.

Well, no. They have to document all of this, and if there is no documentation then there is no punishment.

Or, how about you sue them for refusing to pick up your son for school, since there is no documentation to prove you wrong?
