If we're going to build a tube and push something through it really fast, is there a reason why a mag-lev sort of train-tube wouldn't be worthy?

The maximum recorded speed for a mag=lev is 581 km/h (361 mph) while this 300 m/s or about 800 mph.

Thanks Kashai. I guess it's not as exciting then. Still, if we could arrange techs that do not have a gigantic downside "in case of surprise/accident" (e.g. nuclear power being a great example) that would be ... groovy...

Hyperloop is a trick planned by the EU and corporate degenerates to divert resources away from the obvious feasible and demonstrated revolutionary technology of maglev : www.youtube.com...
that is the way of 21st century transport of people on rails. This is done to promote underdevelopment of the world, with the bogus ideas of hyperloop. Let's be clear ... everyone likes to watch the landscape out of a maglev moving 500 - 800 km/h .... try to do that inside a tube.
Not to mention the faulty idea of keeping vacuum in an extremely long tube!

Its the engineering issues that currently remain unaddressed regarding the Hyperloop that's the problem.

Maintaining a near vacuum in all those miles and miles of loop will be rather hard to achieve and if the construction is below ground health and safety concerns will be an issue regarding any accident or being unable to get to the vehicle.

To be honest through if there was an accident and the carriage managed to hit the side of the tunnel walls there would not be much left of the thing given the velocity of travel, pretty much imagine an air plane crash inside a tin can buried in the ground.

Maglev top speed is limited by aerodynamic drag. It would obviously reach much higher speeds in vacuum (or low pressure) tubes.

The winners of the Hyperloop contest use a passive induction based maglev system (probably inspired by Inductrack).
