It was on my FB feed, from a gentle and beautiful soul in Scandinavia..... she and I have connected on a very warm spiritual level. I shared it on my own FB page....but I want to post it here, too:

The original posted source:
www.faithtap.com...

Please think about the artistry. The message.......

A black man, an anglo-saxon-caucasian man, a middle-eastern man, a white woman, and another nebulous figure.....

The lyrics:

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you
And remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Maybe there's a god above
All I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry you can hear at night
Not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

The chord, people. The chord. All of the people are representing the magical gift of being human - of having the ability to dance, to play instruments...of creating a line of music.

The 'maker' wants us to figure out the CHORD. Can we please just try????

Shreks song?
You can at least give credit to the original composer.

I'd just like to point out that the lyrics you posted are incorrect.

That being said, Pentatonix is one of my fav bands. I caught them when they were on the "Sing-off". They are an incredible experience all the way around.

edit
And the like the poster above me mentioned, the original artist is "Leonard Cohen".

Another great rendition of this song is by Jeff Buckley

I did. Leonard Cohen was the composer. I have edited the title. Thanks for the nudge, though.

I mentioned "Shrek" so that specific readers would be able to relate. Not that many know who "Leonard Cohen" is.

I have just recopied/repasted several different versions...that's what the edits are all about.

Do you have the definitive version? There is jabber wocky stuff that there are "seventeen" verses.....I looked at a bunch of them --- even tried them out. Thought it was sketchy.

So - which is the original????

Cohen was/is great. But Buckley did this song properly.

Well I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

But baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
You know, I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

This one is pretty spot on.

That song and any version of it-I feel deeply with always a tear. It feels to me like the human soul expressing frustration and hurt and asking a higher power to listen and help. Ending with some frustration-but speaks very real.

Loved that version-so spiritual. Thank you. Absolutely beautiful.

Please start over. I did cite Cohen, in the title.
Sorry for posting prematurely. Just wanted to share the song.....but I guess you all can trash me and the message and the thread if you want to......

THANK YOU!!! Everyone who has posted. Thank you.

It is pretty powerful, and hopefully can help us take deep breaths and start walking to a place we can all live.
Those who know me hopefully recognize that I am not a "Christian". I am not a Jew or a Muslim. I am a woman, with reddish blonde hair.

I am also an AGNOSTIC. We can not know what is out there beyond us. So we should cease and desist shouting at each other about whatever it is.
We need to calm down, and talk.

I am as guilty of vitriol and snark as anyone else on here.

COULD WE MAYBE JUST TAKE A COLLECTIVE BREAK AND TRY TO TALK?

Erm...thanks for asking!

Dude. It's unspeakable. We can only absorb it through our other senses. Smell, taste, hearing, touch......
shut your eyes and listen to it.

We can do this.
