I think that we can start the "Russia waging cyberwar" countdown. If assange or wikileaks is under siege by the government, taking down twitter would be a strategic move.

Exactly what I thought. If they were to take down Assange/WL removing twitter from the equation would unfortunately be a smart move from them. Getting too paranoid here..but these news and twitter out at the same time just seems connected.

Not sure how removing Twitter would do anything long term? I mean, an initial shut down of Twitter to grab Assange would lead to them having Assange, but when Assange isn't seen anymore, the dead man switch comes into play... And that's on the internet, not only twitter
