Before i go into this i just want to say that i hate scary movies and i dont like blood and gore. i also despise greed and everything i consider wicked.

But my search for truth has led me to question good and evil.
Is Evil natural?
How would we know what good things were if there was nothing evil to compare it to?
Does the world need evil as a catalyst for human growth?
If someone was good or evil what will it matter hundreds if not thousands if not millions of years from now?
if you believe in God, why does evil exist in the first place?
If you dont believe in God, does it matter how evil you are?

If theres no consequences for your actions besides earthly punishments does it matter how evil someone is towards another?
I dont want to encourage anyone to go out and be evil, im just looking for an answer to tell myself that good and evil matter for whatever higher purpose.

IF "evil" didn't exist how would one have any idea of what good is?

It has its purpose like everything else...

But... How do you not like horror movies?

i could stomach an operation like surgery as long as the person was incapacitated and passed out but i cant stand to see a concious being feel pain from somebody else doing it on purpose

well, then the knowledge of good and evil has a purpose...

Wouldn't you say?

Or perhaps they should have left the apple alone?

seems to be a faulty quest honestly...

what does that even mean?

Enlightened...

Perhaps.. a realization of the reality of this world?

its not a happy thing... but necessary to some

Enlightenment means a true understanding of the nature of reality. like as if you knew god personally or something or how exactly it came to be etc.

It might be worth looking up Catharism, they had some good stuff on Good/Evil.

To sum it up their is two God's one of good, the New Testiment and the spiritual world (think virtue and rightiousness) and one of evil, the creator of all physical and the God of the old testiment.

When we look at the world we do see what we percieve as evil everywhere. The very nature of reality is creation via destruction. One cannot live without destroying to nourish oneself. Nor can anything be created without the destruction of what was. Decay, destruction and renew, order from chaos, chaos from order.

Evil is everything.

Lol you have reached the point where you started and see how foolish the idea of good vs evil is or completed the circle of knowledge which is leading you to question the very nature of what is good and what is evil. Mystic hermit says ..................

Please insert 25 dollars to find the answer you seek.
