But, you are coming across a bit jerky. And that's fine.

No it is not fine and you are absolutely correct. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. My attitude sucks and it detracts from the topic. Thank You.

I really need to work on that.

I think it's great that you care enough to be so "heated" about this. I actually was very turned off of eating away from home, after the food industry. I was appalled at how little care there is hygiene among employees and management. Now, wasn't as bad as the movie "Waiting" made it seem, but not washing hands frequently is enough to make someone ill.

as a guess so slate me if you wish to

the antibiotics work in 24h for an infected cyst in my experience.

if it is a boil/pus to rupture it will rupture or need cutting and not respond to antibiotics.

if it isnt a boil it is an infected large cyst and the infection is within it ie no external infection risk.

why not ask her what is the diagnosis?

interestingly we all have staph and strep on our skin in health and thats why doctors in uk have nothing below elbow policy.

but you have judged her and the medics without evidence -

belligerent

of warlike character; aggressively hostile; bellicose:
a belligerent tone.

waging war; engaged in war:

Well you did a good thing.

I suppose realistically, that doing the right thing does not always bring the reward you might hope for, but for all that it may cause you trouble, I would bet you sleep better for it.

I am intrigued by your assumption that I would be so inclined, but since I respect your comment and find it interesting I will respond.

You are correct, but the person returned with in that time period.

if it is a boil/pus to rupture it will rupture or need cutting and not respond to antibiotics.

This was the procedure, cutting, thus my concern.

why not ask her what is the diagnosis?

The culture would not be final until two days after the cutting.

True, but this was an obvious abrasion
.

but you have judged her and the medics without evidence -

This is a matter of perception. I at no point judged her.
But I did chose to put the safety of costumers and co-workers above my own comfort.
I could have lost my job opposing a manager.

Thank you for your obviously knowledgeable retort.
I am done arguing, this was about a system that disrespects the individual.

Thank you True

My goal is never a reward, I would lose my integrity and become a sheep.
Actually a reward may come many years later revealing the consequence of my action. Then I just smile.

but for all that it may cause you trouble, I would bet you sleep better for it.

I sleep like a rock.
But I do know I can use improvement. And all ways welcome constructive critique.
Cheers

I have spent many years in food service myself and feel you made the right decision.
There are too many infections that could lead to some serious public health concerns.
This employee shouldn't be allowed back to work until she he has been medically cleared
to do so.

It generally depends where you are and what type of establishment it is.
Also the local health inspector plays a large roll in what is acceptable, which determines what the local practices are.

Many places are run very well, and those who do care about their jobs are greatly appreciated.

Not really. Finding the materials necessary to do it right is so hard these days.

It's the nails really. A total pain to find the right kind.
