I will also send extra light to any who need it. All they need to do is ask. This is perfection. Thank you for such a wonderful thread and idea. I am joining you. Blessed Be.

Tiger - you beautiful soul you, thank you for bringing your light!!

(My two boys can use extra. I'm sending extra to your gorgeous grand-baby and to Benevolent Heretic - and anyone else that wants it!)

Thank you.

Thank you for sending extra to Eritrea. It's working...she's completely off the oxygen, and we were able to hold her. Light is incoming for your boys, too. I am so pleased at the response you've received here...we need more of this, not just here, but everywhere in the world.

Millions of candles can be lit from a single, solitary flame, and the flame itself will not be diminished by the sharing of its light. You, my friend, have become that giving flame. Light up the Darkness.😘

I've lost a lot (if not all) of the hopefulness your thread implies and embodies, but I am very, very happy to see that there are still folks who believe in the power of positive and productive thought.

So here, I'm glad to give one of my last sparks to the effort:

May the Road rise to meet you all.

That spark will return to you, threefold. Don't lose hope. Never do that.

Again, my gratitude for those participating (and lurking!) in this thread.

My Experience So Far:

Last night/early this morning (couldn't sleep, thus I made this thread) I did the meditation in the OP. It was blissful to put aside everything and just hold open the space for the "light," that pure goodness, to come through as best as I could, and to then send it out to the world.

I felt physical tension and anxiety drift away, my heart rate lower, my blood pressure lower, and my breathing deepen.

I felt connected to something higher and far bigger than my small self.

I felt connected to people I know, and those I don't know, around the world.

I went into an altered state of consciousness through meditation which led to a blissful state of connection, feeling not only a bonding with the strength that lies in all humanity, but expanded beyond our globe, to all life that may be in our galaxy - I could see the spiral arms as if I were floating above them and able to embrace them with my own, for a short while anyway (I know - pretty trippy!)

One of the most important things, though, was feeling the genuine goodness and caring (loving kindness) that the vast majority of humanity carries with them - the light of the heart - beyond all barriers of class, creed, country, etc. There is so much good in this world. Feeling that, being with that, experiencing that, has amplified my hope and rejuvenated my spirit, and positively affected my physical self as well.

Now, during the day, I've been returning to those feelings whenever I start to slip back into any of the negative emotions and physical stress I'd been feeling prior to this experiment.

It reminded me of how, during a normal breathing meditation, I might slip into listening to all the chatter in my brain and space out from my intention to focus on my breath for awhile. I remembered that the Practice of meditation isn't about never having that happen or maintaining some perfect state, but about bringing oneself back to being present, being fully in the moment and just going on from there, gently herding the consciousness into alignment with the intention to focus.

So I am taking up a new practice today. I'm going to consciously bring myself back again and again to this point of positivity throughout my day that I found during the experimental meditation of the OP. Tonight, I'm going to go back with my candle and my light and do the meditation again to feed and reinforce the connection to that positivity, and will continue to send it back out to the world during the meditation and during the day. I look forward to seeing what comes of this...

Thank you again for participating. PLEASE share any thoughts or images or experiences you had while doing this, if you haven't already. If you would like to continue to "check in" with this meditation during the week, please let me know that as well.

Peace and Gratitude,

THANK YOU!! I so appreciate it! We use all good vibes instantly at our house.

I'm so happy to hear your lovely Eritrea is doing so well! That's fantastic! (My son spent 3 weeks in the PICU when he was first born and had surgery...when it was possible to hold him...well, that was such a wonderful turning point. I totally understand.) Eritrea has such light in her eyes - so sweet. Continued light coming to your family.

Light up the Darkness.

Amen. Blessed Be. Right back at you.

And should my wee flame ever begin to diminish, I have but to return to this thread and replenish it.

I will return to them to enjoy them again...

This is a lovely idea, and I am certain that even if we are not able to perceive it on a large scale, there will be positive effects...

Funny, I used to do a 'meditation' almost the exactly same as you describe in your OP - today is a perfect day to be reminded of it!

Did you know it's the full moon tonight, or is that a synchronicity?

Hey lostgirl! Thanks for joining in! Yeah, the OP describes a sort of intuitive meditation that I've done at various times and I'd never put it into words before. It is so cool that other people in this thread have been doing the same or a similar thing independently!! Makes me feel like we are onto something.

I agree as to the affects - impossible to measure objectively. I can only say how it affects me and those close to me.

The moon is pure synchronicity. I love it when that happens.

Light it Up!!

Let waves of love wash over the world. For anyone who is suffering emotionally, mentally, physically, for those who are worried, lonely or depressed, take in the love and light that surrounds you and know you are never alone.

Lovely to see your post this morning!

My son was not feeling well last night, so I missed my meditation moment. I'm back on track today. (He is doing fine now.)

I'm so grateful that my small self is not so alone in the desire and effort to hold up the light. I really need that right now.

"Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people."

That is a worthy goal for a worthy life. Period.

Thank You AB for attempting this in our world that so needs more kindness, courage and generosity.
This is a truly selfless act of love, there is no glory. I like it very much.
I will make an effort to participate.

Ellaria hello and thank you for the chant. I very much appreciate it includes forgiveness, this reflects personal responsibly some thing I think is painfully lacking in our lives.

I have for many years enjoyed listening to "plain" Hz sounds, especially 528

Hello WalkInSilence!

I'm so glad you are here. Thank you for your kind words and for participating.

It has made a difference for my own heart, and hopefully others feel their own spirits lifted as well. And who knows what may ripple out?

I am returning several times a day to that replenishment. Eritrea is sick; she's got pneumonia, which is not uncommon, but she's going to have to stay five days at least. She's doing OK, responding to the treatment very well though. Thank you for sending her healing light. ❤

You've created a sacred space here. It is definitely touching all aspects of my life. I feel a sense of protection as I'm walking about through my day, a strength that has given me much peace over the last couple of days. I also slept very well last night, which has been an issue these past few weeks. I was able to get everything done today, which is a really great feeling. I hope others will return here and give feedback on your experiment. Maybe we could make this a regular thing on ATS.

I am grateful for this thread. Thank you, AB. Last night I was ready to shut down my computer when I saw your thread. I thought, "That looks interesting." So, I looked at it and found something I could use at the moment, to end a harried day and start a peaceful night.

haha I found out something, too.... I have tried to listen to things like this over the years but I find listening doesn't help. So, I read the OP and copied it to read.... that works for me.

Thank you for this.

I went to bed and woke up with a deep sense of urgency or concern. I'm not sure what it pertains to but I've been in prayer off and on for several days. So, I'm with you.

Everywhere I go, I smile. I'm smiling at everyone and people are genuinely startled. That's so sad to me.
Just a simple gesture of friendliness is somehow a shock or an affront?

Anyways, I'm all in for this.

I actually found myself smiling last night after following this meditation.

A few years ago there was a thread here where the poster related his/her experiment at work by just starting to smile. It seemed to have a positive effect at the office. So that is neat that you are smiling in public. When I retired, one coworker said she would miss my smiles and wondered who would be left at work to help counteract some of the negative coworkers who don't smile.

A lot of people these days seem to not smile out of fear. They need to look "tough". Heck, I don't mind smiling, because some of these "tough looking" people return a happy grin. Another related thing, several years ago I had to be on the phone awhile to take care of a problem with a company. I was what I would consider just being polite, but the person on the other end commented how nice it was to finally talk to someone who didn't sound angry.

ETA lol One can still smile as one says, "Your company screwed up!"
