I know this is the Pit ... but let's get back to it just for fun.

Bill Clinton said that many of Trump's supporters are rednecks, he knows, because he was one.

Can anyone tell me why this is worth the precious minutes of our lives that we've wasted typing about it?

Any of us?

I did not know about the filter, my mistake.

I was also raised in an environment where that word was only used to incite violence. No matter your color, use that word and the fight was on.
Knowing the pain that word causes, why would you use any slur. Do you think the pain would be less for others?
Or were you not aware redneck was used as a slur?

If you're from the South and work hard why not?

Really? So you have to be from the South? Is it State specific?

Edit: Oh ya, and 'works hard' could it be any more general? If they drink all day and sit on their lawn with car parts, is this not Redneck?

My daughters trying to get people together for her birthday.

I'm sitting here at my computer, typing on ATS, hoping she'll ignore me.

I told you I thought it was a double standard.
I think the words use was intended to disparage a group of people with different political views than bill.
In a normal circumstance people that use words that generalize and demean groups are rebuked. Seems not so much with this one.

Just when I thought this couldn't get more ridiculous. IDK why your edit didn't show up but I see the problem. YOU think rednecks are drunken Southerners. Get past that and you'll see wht's what.

I guess that's what I'm saying. We're not even 'the liberals' he was talking to, we're the ones going "wow he can just slur them?" mostly looking for reactions of other liberals.

You realize we notice people use this as a general slur? Or you're specifically denying that?

The angles don't end man. So Trump supporters are "Southern"? Way to disclude yourself from half of America.

Trumps tax cuts are ridiculous. It's predominantly corporate blue interests there. You guys followed the carrot and stick act beautifully.

Not sure what the insult is here... I've always been proud to be a full blooded redneck. Thanks for the compliment, Bill, who I still can't stand.

Oh good god ... any word can be "used as a slur" ... Christians use "atheist" as a slur, Atheists use "Christian" as a slur.

The horse is hamburger.

He said Trump's base, not all.

And there are rednecks up north as well.

wetback = racial slur
zipper head = racial slur
redskin = racist

Redneck = mainstream liberal not racist slur.

Mexicans don't ride around with the word wetback on the back glass of their trucks

Neither do rednecks so what's your point?

People where I'm from go around with redneck on their shirt, hat, and the windows of their vehicle. Sometimes tattoo'd. Proudly.

Funny, how most of the people here in the cities are from somewhere outside of Florida (i.e. Mass., NY, Mich., Ohio, etc).

Way to stereotype (on your way to stereotyping).

Can't see which post of mine you're replying to so how am I stereotyping?
