None of the links on your rather questionable site work.

Particularly the link to the "survey" at the Maxwell poll.

Do you have a link to the poll cited?

If not, sorry, not buying it.

EDIT: The last "Maxwell poll" was apparently conducted in 2007. Here's the site: Campbell Public Affairs Institute

None of the polls present the numbers linked in your spurious article.

81% of people receiving public housing benefits vote Democratic – and that’s just the tip of the handout iceberg

The just of it is many Democrats live in RED states. TX, La, loaded with Democrats. Democratic Governors, mayors...to say a state is RED and leave it at that is beyond flawed. It might lead RED but those Democrats are still there in droves.

exactly

it is not a term of endearment
it is a slur used to make less of someone

your defense of its use reflects on you

Pretty much anything can be used as a slur - - - if you feel a certain group is sensitive to it.

You know, like Gingers.

or WASP (white, anglo-saxon protestant)

One, as in YOU, chooses to go there. Chooses to go extreme to the slur words.

How about just use the simple dictionary definition: a working-class white person, especially a politically reactionary one from a rural area:

That's the same article you cited earlier (which apparently you didn't read).

I linked the Maxwell poll to you, last conducted in 2007.

It doesn't say what your source claims.

Why use it?

It's in the dictionary as a descriptive of a specific group.

Using it as a slur - - is a choice.

Redneck is not confined to one particular race.

That's just BS. You guys ALWAYS use this excuse. It's a term meant to disparage poor, rural white people. A psychologist could probably write a paper of left winger rationalizations for using racial slurs.

Now the Democrat smear campaign against Americans is up to 75% of the population.

Baskets, Buckets, and now Barrels.

Bill Clinton is crazy as Hell.

Only if person is choosing to use it as a negative.

Many Rednecks are proud of who they are and their heritage.

You've taken this issue up with long-time ATS user "The Redneck" then?

If not, why not?

Can you tell me ANY of racial slur that you would make this same argument about? How about the N word? How about wetback?

Coincidentally one of the most intelligent people I've talked to. Sorta blows that "slur" thing out of the water, huh?

Well, in some parts of American Black culture the "n-word" is used as a term of respect ... not unlike the word Queer in the LGBTQ+ community.

Look up the idea of "reappropriation" and get back to us.

millions of us are college-educated and we are voting for Donald Trump. We are just not broadcasting it in the public because we might have to punch some Democrat or Republican in the nose for insulting us.

Indeed.

It certainly demonstrates that from the old dictionary uses, even "slur" words can be taken back and used with pride.

Okay, trying to follow your logic here ...

If "millions" of you are being quiet about your support of Trump, how do any of you know who (or how many) are supporting him?

Secret handshake?

Dictionary: ETHNIC

1. of or relating to races or large groups of people who have the same customs, religion, origin, etc.
2. associated with or belonging to a particular race or group of people who have a culture that is different from the main culture of a country

And BTW - - - Redneck refers to a Red Hankerchief tied around the neck. Not a sunburn.
