It's a culture that's so deeply ingrained in showbusiness, it's not that they didn't now who to tell, or even if they 'should' tell, that's ridiculous.

You're being presumptive.

A 15 year old girl, especially one raised in this "deeply ingrained" culture you speak of, is unlikely to know it's an actionable offense, some old dude who owns the pageant walking in and looking around. It's not like he raped them or "grabbed their p*****s"

Even an older girl might have a very blurry line about what's actionable.

And the ones that do understand their own power may be reluctant to pursue justice for reasons that have nothing to do with their careers.

No you didn't, was just a question cause it fit the model of a Hollywood icon taking part in the perversion.

I agree, it does fit. I don't think Cosby came out of that situation very well.

Like I said in a prevous post, what happened with Jimmy Savile...you see those people actually WERE victims of proper sexual abuse.

they tried to speak out and were silenced, not given a platform. Ignored, when Savile died people understood why they then felt empowered to speak.

The beast was gone and couldn't retaliate, and retaliate he could have. We understood that, it made sense.

Had Savile's victims decided instead it was a small price to pay to gain an advantage in their careers people woul dhave been more cynical and rightly so.

It really boils down to that...it's not so much about the accusations as it is the timing of it..the silence up 'til now, the sudden change in people...I'm a victim now!

What's changed? that's the key point here...what has changed between then and now?

So tell me this is a case of justice for victims...and I'll continue to disagree because it clearly is not.

For all I know Trump is the most perverted person on earth, am I willing to say tat he is based on this? I can't say he's a good person but I know nothing about the incident. For all I know he crawled about on his knees, crotch-watching. For all I know it never happened, or has been greatly exaggerated.

But it's certainly nothing new.

First, I don't recall any of these woman claiming to have been traumatized. Did that happen? Secondly, the reason they are coming forward now is likely because they feel insulated by all the other realizations surrounding Trump's character, and also because the Democrats are digging for dirt.

With Trump, it's not hard to find.

Then I've no sympathy for them, just like I've no respect or sympathy for the liikes of Esther Rantzen who knew about guys like Jimmy Savile and said nothing.

for selfish reasons....they might start off as victims, but the minute they pretend they don't know a line has been crossed, bne if for fear of publicity, career, whatever - they're simply allowing it to carry on.

Yes, that is the system, it's systemic. Don't lie to me and pretend there are people out there who don't know when a line has been crossed.

And at the end of the day, if their mindset is such that the lines are so blurred...how can they claim to be victims?

I mean, if someone sees you naked and your whole attitude is like...meh? Are you still a victim?

Nonsense...they know the scoop, if they don't they're simple, naive folks being exploited first and foremost by thei manager or whoever roped them into showbiz in the first place...they don't belong there.

The question isn't whether they were victims.

I don't recall any of them claiming to have needed years of counseling, for God's sake.

The question is whether it's a creepy and disgusting abuse of power by Trump.

I'm sure that they loved every bit of attention that Trump gave them.

I'm also sure that it would be pretty damn easy for the hillary campaign to (decades after the fact) pay off bored out, addled by drugs attention starved ex beauty pageant contestants a few thousand dollars to lie.

Most "beauty pageant" contestants end up as prostitutes or in basement porns.

And there's the moneyshot right there!

Stop pretending it's about poor victims, it's about we've found something on this guy we don't like!'

I never said it was about the "poor victims."

That seems to be your strawman.

To me, like I said, it's about whether Trump was engaging in a creepy, disgusting abuse of power, and whether we want a guy like that leading the free world.

Oh...is that all the question is?

Well, I'd say it's an open and shut case. If he admits it then yeah, he's a perv.

What have we achieved?

We've achieved what can be expected from any political conversation on the internet. Were you expecting the Earth to move?

Right.

Let's focus on what typical man (or woman) would do when in a room of naked women. Look at beautiful figures. SHOCKING! WHAT A STORY!

Face it, anyone in a room of beautiful naked people is going to stare and find them very attractive and make comments.

Everyone should ask themselves these questions:
Would you turn off your TV when a naked beautiful man or woman appears? Do you find yourself looking at any type of nudity and immediately shutting your eyes or looking the other way?

Maybe at first, but eventually you will look. We all do. It's human nature to look at beauty and nakedness.

Now let's try to spin this as if ALL people who watch porn, look at swimsuit models, or beauty contestants as pigs, are anything other than normal.

This argument is tired. The guy is a man, and a person who looked at naked women. Big deal. We all do. People who deny it are only lying to themselves.

If this is the major argument against Trump, I feel bad. HRC has MUCH bigger demons in her closet and we are starting to get a glimpse.

If it was a Muslim man doing this instead of Donald, your post would be screaming about how terrible Islam is and how its values don't belong in the 21st century and it would get the exact same number of stars by the exact same people .

He's already admitted to this behavior, in a general sense. This specific example just makes it a bit more real to the average voter.

No...no strawman here, you should read the entire thread and know wtf you're talking about before you use those hackneyed expressions...like using the expression strawman because you're on ATS and it sounds cool and lend you some credibility.

No straw men in this thread at all..there's 3 sides:

People who support Trump, hate Clinton.
People who support Clinton, hate Trump.
People who support neither.

Bickering kids running and screaming "we found something, we found something" purporting to be outraged at this sick and twisted pervers...not because of his acts, no. But because they have some mud to sling.

These 'victims' and had you paid attention would have noticed that that is exactly how they're being portrayed...these 'victims' are victims of nothing more than being used as political pawns by the faux-outraged.

If sexual abuse outrages you in any way you should be in a perpetual state of outrage.

I didn't use the word strawman because "I'm on ATS and it sounds cool."

I used it because the arguments you're making in opposition to my posts have nothing to do with the argument I'm actually making.

Maybe you wouldn't make such absurd claims if you didn't have this warped mindset that we're all climbing over each other to respond to you, and understand that this thread has more than two participants.

I reckon that'd be a good start.

Plenty of people clamed these girls who got looked at are 'victims'

You should pay attention.

You should be outraged if ayone does that, presidential candidate or otherwise. And rightly so.

You should be ourtraged that kids beauty pageants are even a thing at all.
