I've seen the same happen. You think you see something, convince yourself of the shape, and then look somewhere and just confirm your misidentification. The more you "confirm" it, the more you convince yourself.

Aside from Kansas 2014, Texas 2014 and that other one from Steve Douglass 10-20 years ago that seemed to show a very pixelated Brilliant Buzzard looking affair- cant think of any good pics from the F117 onwards that aren't:

Blurry so as to not reveal details
Taken at night, so only show lights
On the ground/taken from a restricted area where chain of custody can be established,
Questionable due to source/story.

ETA: @Zaphod... Possibility and you obviously appreciate his credentials so wont discount.

Make sure to have three disks, teh top and bottom rotating in opposite directions, and lined with neodymium magnets.

OK, just for you, it's capable of mach 16, can go around the world on one refueling, and land in the same distance as the U-2.

The "picture" isn't exactly a picture. It's a drawing of what it MIGHT look like if Aurora existed, and was seen refueling.. They took a picture of three F-111s and drew a triangle over one of them. It doesn't exist.

A lot of things vanish over time. There's are several NASA documents that I read years ago, some military, some civil, that are damn near impossible to find now. By the same token, there are some documents that have very interesting things in them that are extremely easy to find.
