A special prosecutor is an independent prosecutor.

You mean like Kenn Starr was "independent?" You think his appointment was somehow coincidental? He'd investigated Whitewater and the death of Vince Foster. That would Kenn who got canned this year as Baylor's President & Chancellor because he was ignoring claims of sexual assault. Ironic isn't it? He's also been the counsel for Jeffrey Epstein of all people.

The fact is the the GOP has been "investigating" everyone but themselves for decades. Remember that whole impeachment of Bill Clinton? Remember who was leading that charge in Congress? One of the principals was Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert — a man who was blasting Clinton for consensual sex with an adult in the Oval Office while he was paying hush money to keep under wraps the fact that he molested kids when he was a wrestling coach.

The GOP loves them some witch hunts. That car thief Issa has been on a career long fishing expedition with his kangaroo court. How many more Benghazi investigations? How many more testimonies about emails do we need?

Finally, it's interesting that Trump would say this. As many of you don't seem to know, his mentor was Roy Cohn who was in fact Joseph McCarthy's Witchfinder General.

So yeah go on about how a "special prosecutor is an independent prosecutor" but what he was threatening was malicious prosecution al a Yulia Tymoshenko who crossed Manfort's other recent client, Viktor Yanukovych and found herself in prison for "corruption" after that despot won the election. Luckily for her, after Manaforts boy had pocketed his billions and assassinated nearly a hundred protesters, his buddy Vladimir had to come rescue him and Tymoshenko was finally released.

Personally I won't lose any sleep if Hillary goes to jail eventually (as long as it's after the GE) but in the is just one more authoritarian red flag from Comrade Trump.

Trump said he'd "appoint a special prosecutor"

No. Even Trump seems to be aware that the President can't do that.

Then later when Hillary responded, she said that it's a good thing that people like Donald Trump aren't in charge of the laws to which Trump interjected - because you would be in jail.

Why a 'special' prosecutor and not any non-judgemental, professional prosecutor? I am missing something here.

Special, as in a prosecutor who Clinton can't buy, kill, or Foster. Who knows? Maybe Trump will keep his promise and not change his mind. I doubt it, though.

I'm not saying whether Kenneth Starr was independent or not. What I'm saying is the outrage is unwarranted, if not utterly hypocritical.

Nothing else you mentioned is relevant.

Lets just make this a post!

Fourteen Defining
Characteristics Of Fascism

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use ofpatriotic mottos, slogans,("Make America Great Again!") symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need."(Islam! Mexico!) The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3.Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause(Kill Hillary!) - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4.Supremacy of the Military- Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected.Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism("Grab them by the pussy!") - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated.Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives.Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7.Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9.Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13.Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Stupid statements don't rouse outrage in all people. I thought it was ridiculous.
Whether or not his statement helped him, that's something else.

Is asking the ag to look into an issue illegal now?
I don't know. The President targeting an individual? The President instructing the AG to appoint a special prosecutor to do so? The legality would seem to be in unknown waters, actually. Doesn't seem it's ever been done.

Witch hunt, much?

It's strange... because although I feel the investigation would be more than warranted.... she is, in fact, a witch.... so it would be a Witch Hunt, albeit a reasonable and rational one. A bit of an oxymoron.

I find it a bit odd that some people are getting twisted about what Trump said he WOULD do, while ignoring things that have been done.

The current administration literally used the IRS as a gangster type enforcer versus conservative/Tea Party groups. When called out..... the old "The dog ate my homework" (also known as... the e-mails AND servers AND hard drives are gone) excuses were used.

Once again some people are being outraged over hypothetical situations of some while ignoring actions that have already transpired by others.

But if Trump kills or Fosters the prosecutor, there's no incentive for the prosecutor to win the case. Eh... Unless he kills or Fosters the prosecutor afterward. Gahhhhh. Legal stuff. It's just a yuge pickle.

I know it's confusing how Republicans have held office more than once and Trump is immune to the disasters of your own party.

I'm glad you think every aspect, especially sexism and racism applies to our current administration, you must first recognize a problem to fix it.

This election will never take place, rothschild are going to make sure since Trump is slipping from their control. They're going to cause WW3 to avoid Trump from being elected. Obama is USA's last president, with ww3 on the door step he will have no option but to continue his presidency.
