Larry Elder posted the story on his Twitter feed a short while ago.

Ninety-one year old WW2 Veteran, Gene Baker, died last month and there are no friends or family to attend his funeral. Is anyone in the area who has the time and inclination to attend?

The funeral is at 2 PM today in Eagle Point at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home is asking for people to come and pay respects. I would gladly go if I was in the area. I'm hoping for a big crowd for this forgotten man.

I don't know what else to write to make this OP longer but here is the link to the story:

Thank you!! This is the kind of thing that makes me cry. I have to go blow my nose.

I know it's late notice but I'm hoping.

I just set an alarm on my phone. At 4:00 [ time zone differences ] I will stand in silence for 1 minute. Those men and women actually did defend the world against tyranny and for even one to die alone, is heartbreaking. I know we all have our differences, political, religious, but I hope we can put all that aside, to send this man off with a final thought or prayer.

I can't get to Oregon, but at 2 pm I will bend a knee and say a prayer for the old guy. May he find peace.

We are a Military Family. He needs his brothers there. I also sent it to US Army WTF moments. Between these two pages he won't be alone.

That makes me feel better. I wonder about his life since the war.

I'm glad you posted this. Thank you. I have forwarded it to a couple people in Oregon as well.

And like others, at 2:00 I will pause for a moment of a silence and prayer for him.

RIP Gene Baker.

You're welcome and thank you!

I believe when a person passes, the part of that being who survives the physical death goes to his or her funeral so I expect this man's soul will attend, and hopefully he will be pleased that other people came just because.

I will be giving this man a 2 pm moment of silence as well.

I have a feeling this story will spread and his memory will be honored across the country.

It's the least we all could do.

I hope this rendition of Taps is acceptable. I think it has a beautiful tone!
