There is no need to protect earth from itself. Man has done enough invasive damage trying to control mother nature.

I totally agree. If we would take care of the Earth it would still go through changes but with all the raping and pillaging it cannot be "natural" for the Earth and has to have consequences. Look at what we have done to the seas. It wont get any better and the Earth will have to clean herself in a way that will indeed be scary when she revolts.

Simple and wise words, well stated.

Why is the rate alarming? We don't know how fast it melted nor how often in the last several million years. Everything is speculation at this point...or fear mongering.

Yes, we can calculate what it was like back then vs now. That's what Climate Science is.

The fact is, most people believe in climate change. It's the cause of climate change and to what degree mankind is responsible which seems to be the argument of the day. There are many things the earth is in control of which we can do absolutely nothing about.

That argument doesn't hold much water. " I don't think we can do anything about it, so let's just not do anything about it, lets not even worry about making it better or worse in some little increment, let's just forgot about it all together.

I don't subscribe to man made climate change either just so you know, but I do know that as humans, we have this incredible ability to invent things and do things that change the world around us. This challenge is a perfect example of how humans could come together and help make a huge crisis somewhat better.

~Tenth

The crisis is only ours, NOT the earth's. Earth is doing earthly things. We need to do something about us. Our incredible ability to invent things has caused nothing but havoc to an eco system that survived, changed, and thrived for millions of years. The challenge is how humans can come together and learn to live with earth, it's changes and cycles WITHOUT interfering with earth's beautiful processes. We need to quit raping the land, poisoning the waters and endangering it's resources with negligent and wasteful habits.

We need to quit trying to change earth to fit our needs. We need to change our attitudes and actions to graciously and responsibly accept what gifts the earth offers us and either adapt or move to other locations when it's apparent that specific locations are no longer enabling our needs and wants. We're the only creatures who don't seem to get this. Why is it we can't seem to figure it out?

Why do humans arrogantly and pompously expect the climate ,weather, earth to remain static just to suit them ? its like city dwellers who go out into the bush ,Africa and expect everything to be like the Disney they have been brain washed by, then cry because ''thats not how i want it booo hoo '' !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,even if all human activity ceased tomorrow, forever, the earth and weather would keep changing ,Why are the dinosaurs gone ? why did the mega fauna die out ?[although they are trying to blame that one on humans as usual] the opportunistic incompetent politicians now get in on the act with stupid carbon tax ,the stupid terminology of ''Carbon Footprint '',the stupid masses are swallowing all this like they do with all propaganda when its presented as FACT by the controlled media ,no doubt in the future you will get locked up if you dispute the accepted populist BS .
