Pal, take it to the Post I gave to you. There are many, many more people on this planet after the flood.

As for those who lived in Noah's World, just those within the Ark.

All of the deatils you wish to ignore are there

Ciao

I'll take it where I please. You may stay or follow as you please. I'm just pointing out that the literal interpretation of the Bible is replete with contradictions and anomalies.

I guess the next thing to says is Divine Intervention or Tall Tales. Many events in the bible violate the natural laws. Global Deluge, incest with the few inhabitants, rivers parting and food being replicated.

In order for these events to be true someone or something has to suspend the natural laws. There's no way to prove these divine events as fact. The bible is the only recorded proof and you can take its word for it or not.

There are interesting tall tales to discover from other sources. One example is the American Tall tale of Paul Bunyan. People like a good story and most that are recorded are meant to give a lesson.

We know the bible has many lessons in it but many view them as a way to control the masses. I can understand that. There are valuable lessons to take home in many cases. Don't let jealousy lead to murder-Cain and Able. Proper excrement handling-Go to the bathroom outside the camp of Israel. There's a great deal more in there that civilization benefited from.

The last thing I want address it the divine intervention/supernatural topic. If a Christian or Jew accepts these events as true, why do you think God has put an end to them? I believe the last recorded miracles in the bible were done by the last apostles. It seems to be all large scale supernatural events were halted. It would seem God isn't backing anyone these days. He won't prove by a demonstration anymore. You got to pick the religion that feels right in the heart or don't pick one at all.

The Bible is the only record, and it is NOT proof. A single source for anything is suspect until corroboration is found, and the more fantastic the claim, the greater the amount of corroboration is needed. That point is frequently ignored here.

This idea is actually fairly well presented in the book A Scientific Approach to Biblical Mysteries by Robert W. Faid. It discusses the firmament with the first rain and rainbow with increased atmospheric pressure from the water canopy which caused the increase in life expectencies. It is a very good read for a lot of biblical topics.

The concept of a "water canopy" is just a Hovindized excuse to explain an impossible event. If you would, please explain how a huge mass of water could hover over the planet. And why we have no evidence of such a higher air pressure before the mythical flood?

Well, what if the answers are plaining infront of you. It is a matter of perspective.

The Great Flood, Myth or Fabrication?
www.abovetopsecret.com...

EdenKaia offered this link, which details "GLOBAL FLOOD STORIES"
www.talkorigins.org...

Now, to Noah, specifically, was not the flood a GLOABL Occurance? And since the Bible IS FOLLOWING ADAM's Line, and it's now Noah's turn at the plate, so to speak, would the story, being told to Moses by God, be also specific to Noah. All he knew was gone.

But that is all he knew. The Mountains Flooded over, and everything was washed away.

What if Noah came from a quaint village 400 feet below the present day Med Sea? It would be Global to Noah Specifically.

And to the Lessor extent, it seeminly was Global, because most ancient cultures have these tales as we have noted above.

And what of this incest? What's up with all this incest? Everyone would look like they could play a role in Deliverance!

www.jesus-is-lord.com...

1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all
the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the
earth.
1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he them.

1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful,
and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing
seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every
tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to
you it shall be for meat.
1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the
air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein
there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and
it was so.
1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it
was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth
day.

Why is there any need to be drawn into the discussion of Incest? There where Thousands and Thousands of people created on the Sixth Day. People on this planet prior to Adam and Eve eliminating the Incest, un-informed people, wish to point to.

As for Parting waters and such, when you get a change, watch Exodus Decoded on the History Channel when it reairs. (Nothing showing in the next few weeks but keep checking)
www.history.com...

It is a fine example of Science being used to confirm the Biblical Account of the Exodus, and all that goes with it. The Parting of the Reed Sea, Akmoses-(Brother of Moses), the Localtion of Mt Sinia, All the Plagues, and a Corrected Timeline. This would tend to answer your lack of proof!

There's no way to prove these divine events as fact. The bible is the only recorded proof and you can take its word for it or not.

The last thing I want address it the divine intervention/supernatural topic. If a Christian or Jew accepts these events as true, why do you think God has put an end to them?

An example of GOD's INTERVENTION Today!

The Sixth Day War.

As for Miracles, they happen all the time. Many have the gift of healing, and do so more than just sometimes. I will acknowledge, Many have the Gift of Scam, but that should not deminish God answering Prayer through Miracles (legitamately).

How do you know this? It hasn't been tested yet.
The following article was presented Oct. 6, 2008.

www.astrobio.net...

Although there are several ways to try to gauge what the temperature was like on the ancient Earth, there are currently no "paleobarometers" for measuring the pressure of the past. "Nobody knows what the pressure was before 1643, when Evangelista Torricelli built the first barometer," Buick says.

"Roger's proposal is the first effort of which I am aware to directly determine Archean atmospheric pressure," Kasting says. "I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he comes up with."

The jury is still out.

On the post's original question (did it ever rain before...) - well I guess when it rains, it pours. So if its not pouring before the flood? Maybe it was only ever sprinkling... And people were ridiculed if they called it raining... "Hah! Call that rain... I'll show you rain..."

The mind runs wild when thinking of where water came from in the first place. I hope it was having a good time, perhaps enjoying happy hour somewhere warm.

I am always entertained though at the extent of the whole science vs religion perspective on the flood (and etc). Science cannot indefinitely disprove anything. Science has proven science wrong...

It is not illogical to believe that any scientific explanation can change. As a simple example, gravity as we have it written today may be laughed at by our children's children. What we feel is indefinite proof is what we _choose_ to believe. Its not necessarily right or wrong.

I'm being rather obvious here, but I therefore like to not cloud my appreciation of events with too may variables. For example, without defining "everything", it is very possible for "everything" (what ever "everything" is) to flood during Noah's time. Even if I was personally there when it happened to make my own definition of everything, it would just be my definition of everything.

So did everything flood during Noah's flood then? Yes. What is everything? I don't know.

One thing I have always wondered... If the english language called all fruits 'apple' before the word fruit was introduced, how do we know if even a very literal english story of anyone eating an apple before that time was actually eating what we can today an apple?
