On Friday, September 30, a woman widowed when her husband was killed at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001 became the first American to sue the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Washington DC District Court, just two days after Congress slammed Obama for siding with Saudi Arabia, overriding his presidential veto only for the first time in his administration, and enacting legislation allowing Americans to sue foreign governments for allegedly playing a role in terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Stephanie Ross DeSimone alleged the kingdom provided material support to al-Qaeda and its leader, Osama bin Laden.

How is this a bad thing? If sovereign nations are held accountable like this, they may actually care about killing and mistreating people.

If it's a frivolous lawsuit, that will be apparent in court.

Do you think it will hurt the relationship between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia? If you're worried about that, I hope hell has a nice spot waiting for you (if you're not already there).

Which court?
Who will represent the defense?
If she wins, then what?

Such a can of worms.

You know the old saying, when you point your finger at someone you have three pointed back at you. There is the worry that this will open the US to the same sort of suites.

It isn't really the relationship with SA people are worried about, most reasonable people can see that is a one way relationship. They are worried a bit about what it would mean for our troops out in the middle east because as I understand it they do offer some support for us out there.

Good question.

Sanctions? Nah. Leans? Maybe.

Seems to be new legal territory. Interesting.

Actually, it just occurred to me that the United States Department of Justice is on a roll with granting IMMUNITY. Saudi Arabia will be granted IMMUNITY from being brought to trial.

Loretta Lynch works for Obama and Hillary. They are against Americans suing Saudi Arabia, sooo....it's immunity time!

As much as I want the Saudis to be brought into justice, this lady is fighting a losing battle. If she managed to gain some ground eventually Bush and his cronies will make her "disappear."

Wins what?

I'm for this but more sinister, cut the ties with Saudia Arabia and take the hit. It will suck but it's gotta happen sometime.

But wins what? Money?

Will this make Saudia Arabia accountable if they take a drop out of the bucket for her.

Are the courts going to show the US something we didn't know? No.

If you believe they are accountable sue our government for still doing business with them.

Bush is much too busy with a golf retirement. Hillary will do it for him, she is much much better at it in any case no?
