As if entranced

Ummm...I wrote this a short while ago as thoughts of my childhood contrasted present muse...



As if entranced


I gather lights that flicker in the night
Place them in a jar that I had brought
Caged them as I interrupt their flight
Late realize not firefly’s I’d caught

Still as if entranced I gather more
Hasten then to catch them and compare
Yet what was fun now weighs so like a chore
By rote or rhyme I pluck them from the air

Then as birdsong fills the mornings light
I yawn then twist the lid a final turn
I’ll sow again these stars unto the night
With day fulfilled I usher dark’s return


I know...perhaps there's not some greater significance inherent...beyond a moment or two in which I chose to record an overly simplistic thought train...
I suppose it must be ego aspect's out whoring for flag and star...
