Meerkats!!!!

If you listen to the political discourse currently going on in the U.S., you would think that the world’s most murderous mammal is man. And you would be wrong. A study whose intent was to determine if humans are predisposed to murder also looked at 1.024 other mammals and found that the crown of “natural born killers” should be placed on the heads of those ubiquitous meerkats. Wait, what?

That's right meerkats are. Those cute adorable little baby killing psychopaths.

Awwww look at the cute baby!!!

Hey Let's Kill it!!!

On the hunt!

Oh no no don't look!

RIP

Has to be your own species. Otherwise it's um something else I guess. Usually survival via hunting for food.

Meerkats will kill every youth born into a group when the dominant male changes. and any baby not belonging to said male, thereafter, is killed.

Social order is enforced by death. TBH, i expect that if the same study was done 300 years ago, humans would stack up a whole lot better (or worse, if your not a psycho
).

Why? We all die someday. The sun will destroy earth eventually if an asteroid will not first.

Completely irreverent to the discussion but thanks, go you.

The context is pretty clear thanks for the weird tangent.

Considering that the title is "We're not the number one murderers, guess who is", I thought there may be some follow-up and a point that tied in to it.

My bad.

It seems like it an appropriate post in the Science Forum.

Don't most big social cats do the same? I mean, I'm pretty sure Disney left that on the cutting room floor, but I believe the new lion wreaks havoc on infant males that aren't his.

Well supposedly a study was done, right? Took me quite a bit to decide what was the right place for this. If wrong sue me!

I was being clever because I thought the answer being a cute little meerkat would be humorous in the unexpected sort of way, but I guess you could draw a point from it for those who seem to think we are as well that we are not so unique.
