This could be interesting.

A HUGE solar storm is heading towards Earth which could leave us without mobile phones, satellite TV and even electricity.

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says a coronal hole has opened on the Sun, leading to a stream of solar particles hurtling towards Earth.

Hopefully we will just get some beautiful aurora's.

It's just G1-class so I imagine it won't do much of anything other than a good show in the night sky.

The Sun needs to wake up already !!

I haven't watched the sun for months as it seems to be in quiet mode for so long .

Wow, the coronal hole is huge on spaceweather. It looks like a third of the sun is dark.

Righty oh then.

Looks like I shall be visiting with friends, rather than chatting to them online....

Like a normal day really! If we do go down though, the site I mean, then I wish everyone the very best possible luck, and hope that whatever inconveniences are caused, are not felt to strongly!

Not a magnetic storm, a mass ejection.

Yup and the Express run this story a couple of times a year, they've started printing it after the 'Worst blizzards for 40 years on the way' headline that they posted a couple of days ago...

No it won't be as it's only a G2

G2 (Moderate) Geomagnetic Storm Watch for 28-30 September

Express articles really belong in the hoax bin, they're as bad as all those youtubers like secureteam10

I know the difference.
What makes you think a Cme will hit us soon?

Didn't know that.
The link was on drudge report.
They are only predicting minor disruption not extinction.

This is from today... spaceweather.com...

GEOMAGNETIC STORMS CONTINUE: G1-class geomagnetic storms are ringing Earth's poles on Sept. 29th as a high-speed (600+ km/s) stream of solar wind continues to buffet our planet's magnetic field. "We have seen auroras here in Iceland for 5 nights in a row," reports Olivier Staiger, who took this picture of tourists enjoying the lights last night:
