So it's no longer Obama's fault as has been put forward, ridiculously, but now the husband of the current candidate? Wish these guys would settle on one thing and not change it when it becomes more convenient. 2nd question. Bush had 8 years to head this off, if it was Bubba's fault, did he drop the ball?

And it seems Bush was warning about the problems with the mortgage systems.

Setting the Record Straight: Six Years of Unheeded Warnings for GSE Reform

So Bush sat on his hands for 7 years then. Got it.

Congress did, especially in 2007 and 2008.

That's 6 years after what your source says the alert went up. That's slow even for maple syrup in February.

Bush had no power to stop this by himself.

Sure he could have. EO. He's no stranger to those. He has more than Obama.

You do not need a conspiracy for greed. You just need to be greedy.

They are self-serving lawmakers who had access to information the rest of us do not normally have in regular channels. They repealed the law due to the efforts of lobbying which personally enriched all of them. That is not a complicated process requiring a conspiracy.

I have never understood this notion of writing off a grander conspiracy because of simple "profit", the truth is that it is all about power, profit is simply a side show.

""Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws"

The lawmakers are simply house slaves allowed to have a little bit more of the share, as long as they do exactly as they are told... Kennedy, Eisenhower, and Hoover all tried to warns us!

There were multiple attempts by the Republicans to reign in the damage done by the Community Reinvestment Act during W's tenure, but those scrappy obstructionist Democrats managed to filibuster and block every attempt. They called such attempts 'racist' or something else equally original.

Hey she carries hot sauce wherever she goes...

I need another shower now.

Well, what else is she gonna put on her soul food?

Can't put any soul on it for sure.. those packets dried up
for her and Slick decades ago.

I really believe that both major parties were involved..
starting with Greenspan telling us it'd be a really good
idea to have commercial banks sell junk.

That really DID help things out a little until the Flying
Monkeys strafed Wells Fargo und Organ Morgan Stanley
Steamless. All aboard, Oz.

Where IS the US now with those pesky little derivatives
(total unfunded liabilities]? $650 TRIL for just the US?
80 years ago the Pound got pounded to death; and the
US was the domino right in front of the stack. Now we
get to play headblaster, and China's right in back of us.

I really hope when this pops they have a good attitude.

Because that is all there is. Their campaigns get cash infusion so they get reelected and they have access to insider trading. The end.

It is all a giant quid pro quo.

No, and EO wasn't possible to regulate banks and lending policies and mortgage backed securities.

Bush was powerless.

The problem clearly started with 1990s policies.

and of course this has nothing to do with Hillary selling more lies.

A President can't over-ride a law with an EO.

Unless you can show us how.

You brought up the issue, now you can have it all to yourself.

Failure.

To understand how the repeal of Glass Steagall caused the
crash, first understand the way derivatives work in the market.

Bad mortgages were bundled together and sold as mortgage backed securities,
credit default swaps and other risk related financial derivatives.

Without the repeal, the banks could not have engaged in this risky
behavior to begin with.

So, in other words yes, it lies squarely in Bill Clintons lap,
he could have prevented it.

Wait a second. You know that Clinton left office in January of 2001, right? So if the 2008 financial crisis is somehow the result of Pres Clinton's actions, why didn't Bush and the Republican controlled Congress do anything to undo Clinton's work? Or are we supposed to forget that Republicans controlled both Chambers of Congress for most of Bush's presidency and for the last 4 years of Clinton's presidency?

Do you guys PM or something? That the 3rd time in an hour I've been accused of being off topic. This is EXACTLY on topic. Ya'll are casting blame(changing it again) at Bubba and are not accepting that Bush could have fixed this but didn't. No facts just, "You're wrong".
