I heard about this study a while back that mad an intersting point on why we seem to have a higher rate of questionable police shootings. When encountering black males.

Easy to check off is the male factor, so we will factor it out of the equation. Since obviously males are on average more of a physical threat.

So concerning the "black" part, maybe it has to do with the way the HUMAN (not white) brain analyzes threats.

Well just period dark skin makes it harder to identify facial features in low light situations and when the brain can't recognize facial features. It airs on the side of caution and perceives that person as a threat. That's for everyone, all races. Add in a high adrenaline situation and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Just thought it was an interesting point.

Could be Diminished Amygdala Syndrome.

Might also help to understand how everyone's conditioned in the main stream by television. Shows like Cops, First 48 and others reflect the hood and gangs more, giving everyone the impression that most crime occurs in these ethnically poorer neighborhoods.

If all the incidences of police shootings and abuse of authority occur on tv only reflect whats happening to poor, gangsters and thugs then thats where we think the most crime is.

Like to hear "Bad Boys, Bad Boys" playin' in the background as they arrest the Banksters and put them in cuffs, or the officials in Washington making war that results in mass death and destruction overseas.... theres some real crime happening here and it ain't just in the hood, by thugs.

It's all about perspective and who makes noise. Observe:

Now add in the percentage of the Black population, which is about 13%. Just where is all the violence against Blacks (and everyone else) coming from again?

edit on 9/22/2016 by schuyler because: (no reason given)

It could also be that there is a large percentage of any given population that is committing violent crimes.

It's not about blacks getting murdered. It is about a lack of accountability..

There is no need to protest if the party in the wrong is being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but when there is video and the officer isn't charged and/ or relieved of duty...

Then you have the stats for most of them being BS misdemeanors?

Should cops simply avoid arresting/stopping individuals who are black?

Should they be given a free pass to commit any and every crime?

I have to agree, Oklahoma is charging the cop with manslaughter, no protests, it was a wrongful shooting. South Carolina however, the guy was a criminal, had a gun, refused to drop it, gets shot and there are violent protests and looting. It's not about blacks being shot by police, it's about blacks breaking the law being shot by police. Go figure?

Cheers - Dave

That is almost accurate . . . it says nothing about the cops. So take that 0.77 and make it even smaller.

Don't forget that in order to 'protest' . . . "we gonna go loot and burn the town (though we don't care cause we aint fro there! that right we makin statement!" (Idiots each and every one of them.)

Like whites haven't been afraid of black males since Nat Turner first organized some slaves.
