NY Daily News

I had to alter the title to fit it.

It was a million dollar shot until it wasn’t.

Donald Trump once refused to pay a winner of a hole-in-one contest $1 million during a 2010 golf tournament, prompting the competition’s angry winner to sue the mogul, recently unearthed documents from the lawsuit show.

And when the GOP nominee finally settled the suit for $158,000, he did so with money from his charitable foundation, which is illegal.

The claims add to mounting allegations surrounding Trump’s ethics as a businessman as well as the legal and ethical questions surrounding his charity, the Donald J. Trump Foundation.

This guy never pays what he owes, never keeps his word... how can anyone expect him to follow through on anything he has said on the campaign trail?

But the rules also stipulated that Greenberg’s shot had to travel at least 150 yards, a distance that Trump’s golf club, allegedly, made the hole short of, on purpose.

Like a carnival game. That's exactly what this slime ball is, a carnival barker. Sounds real great...

Heard this on an NPR discussion today.

It was just ONE of the stunts Trump pulled in getting his charity to pay for business deals (RIP OFFS)

Apparently, his Charity also put out an ad for booking rooms at one of his hotels. And there are more.

He's a notorious cheater when playing golf as well :-/

What's one million to him anyway,I'm sure it would have been good publicity if he paid up

All rich people stay rich by screwing people over. Oprah used to have a place a couple of miles away till she couldn't get any work done because people didn't get paid. Paid off the locals that worked for her to keep their mouths shut.

To be fair, the settlement went to another charity.

And this article has some more details..

A source close to the Trump Organizaion said, “We had nothing to do with the matter other than they chose to use our course.” The source added that Trump offered to play a round of 18 holes at Briarcliff with Greenberg, and if Greenberg won, Trump would pay him $1 million in cash on the spot. If Greenberg lost, he’d have to pay Trump $100,000. He didn’t take up the offer.

It reminds me of the scene from "Semi-Pro" where they wouldn't pay the guy for hitting the shot at halftime. (ETA: They paid with a bogus check.)

That's two different events though, a match win is not a hole in one....the Trump is notorious for baulking payments, nothing honourable about him.

Where are the Trump supporters making excuses for him here? Usually they'd be in full force by now deflecting to Hillary.

Trump is just as big of a sleaze ball as Clinton, there is no real "winner" this election season, both candidates are horrible people.

I really doubt that Trump is even a real billionaire as he claims. He was quoted once saying he values his BRAND TRUMP to be 4 billion dollars and his net worth changes with his mood.

I would love to be proven wrong. If he showed his Tax returns like all the other nominees we would know.

I'm voting for the direction I want to go and the team behind the president. The presidency is not a single figurehead. It will not be Team Trump.

Trump was obviously right.

That is why he did not have to pay the poor loser a million.

It was a charity event therefore the charity was liable for legal expenses.

It was not illegal in any way, shape or form.

Boy the hit pieces against Trump are on fire I tell ya!!!

Only problem though, this had NOTHING to do with Trump other than it was played on his course.

The former chairman of the Commodities Exchange, Marty Greenberg, is suing former NBA superstar Alonzo Mourning over a hole-in-one, the NY Post reports.

Uh-oh, looks like Trump WASN'T the one sued.

But after the event, the insurer backing the tournament refused to pay up, because they said "Greenberg's required 150-yard shot had actually traveled only 139 yards."

Oh my, didn't meet the requirements. That's like an 18-year old winning a jackpot in Vegas.

Meanwhile, the Trump Organization says: "We had nothing to do with the matter other than they chose to use our course."

I hear he has nice courses.

And apparently the Donald offered to play a round at the course with Greenberg with some pretty sweet terms attached. If Greenberg won, Trump would hand over $1 million in cash then and there. If Greenberg lost, he'd have to pony up $100,000. Greenberg didn't take him up on the wager.

Gee it sure is fun to post sensational clickbait threads...but sucks when someone actually fact-checks it.

So it was not even Trump's charity to begin with but a black American NBA star's charity being shaken down by the wealthy cheater Greenberg.

Former Commodities Exchange chairman Martin Greenberg is suing former NBA star Alonzo Mourning‘s charity after he won $1 million for hitting a hole-in-one at its golf tournament — then was denied the prize after it was claimed the course had been improperly shortened.

So why make the winning distance 150 yards when you know the hole isn't far enough away?

He wasn't wrong, he was just as asshole. Great guy to be leading our country for sure.

He sued the charity and Trumps golf course

Why are you calling Greenberg a loser and a cheater?

"Yeah well how many hole-in-one contest winners had to sue Hillary to get a fraction of their winnings paid by her foundation? Huh?"

The dirt is coming out in a steady stream now. This isn't the only thing he settled with foundation money either. A lot of his supporters are trying to brush it off as being "his money anyway" but that's not the case. In fact, in recent years, the top donor to the Trump foundation is a man named Richard Ebers who has donated $1.9 million — over half of what the foundation took in over the same four year period. The second largest donation in a single year was from NBC Universal (half a million in 2012).

Even it if had been money he'd donated entirely himself (which it wasn't), it would be still be self-dealing, still be unlawful and if you want to get really technical, the money he's donationed would have been claimed on those taxes he won't release as a deduction.

The foundation is being investigated by the NY AG now. Speaking of NY and AGs, I wonder if they're investigating whether or not he bribed Alan Hevesi? He was dumping tens of thousands on him at the same time as one of the vice chairs of the Trump Victory Fund, Elliot Broidy, who DID plead guilty to bribing the corrupt comptroller.

Must be time for another foreign intervention by Julian Assange and/or the Russians right? Don't they have something scheduled for the day before the debate to take the focus off?
