I would never considered algae as something that would be an issue in the arctic!

Scientist have realized this could be a major issue for Greenland and are not wasting any time investigating what could be a signicant factor in the melting of the glaciers

I could see this happening. Algae would absorb light/heat which would collect thermal energy rather than reflect it.

Warmer temperatures and higher CO2 could (needs to be proven) increase the growth of algae.

This is a "feedfoward" --- human induced greenhouse changes results in physical alterations to accelerate consequences.
