This is still a developing story so keep that in mind.

At about 1:35 PM EST, Vice News reporter Alex Thompson was taken into police custody at the Omni Westside Hotel in Houston while attempting to inquire about the status of his press credentials. As of two hours ago, he had still not been released.

Vice News - VICE News reporter arrested outside a Donald Trump campaign event

VICE News requested access to the event earlier this week and was told by the Trump campaign that its status was "pending." Thompson entered the lobby of the Omni to ask members of Trump's communications staff whether a final decision on access had been made.

A man who identified himself as a hotel manager then asked Thompson to leave and warned that he would be arrested if he did not. Roughly two minutes later, without further warning and while Thompson was waiting for a member of Trump's staff to clarify his access to the event, he was arrested by Houston Police, handcuffed, and escorted outside. Thompson spoke with his editors while handcuffed and said that he was never given any opportunity to explain himself to police.

Here's a video of the handcuffed reporters speaking with his editors:

The latest update (4:40 PM EST) from Vice on Twitter states that the Houston Police are saying that Thompson is STILL being detained on "investigative hold."

While Donald Trump's hostility toward the press might not be quite as homicidal as his buddy Putin ("I got to know him very well" --Donald Trump), it's certainly no big secret. He's made villifying certain media outlets — and playing the victim — central to his campaign. In fact, if you know anything about Donald Trump, you're aware that he's had a long history of suing and threatening to sue just about anyone who prints or says anything he doesn't like — regardless of whether or not it's true — and just as long is his history of LOSING frivolous lawsuits against a journalists, newspapers, authors, comedians, etc.

He's infamously blacklisted reporters from various media outlets from his events (where they would be stuck in a pen to be jeered anway) in retaliation for publishing unflattering pieces.

It also bears mention that a Vice News journalist is currently engaged in a lawsuit to compel the IRS to release details concerning the audit of Trump's taxes, an excuse he's been using to keep from revealing information he doesn't want the American people to have. An excuse that his own children have exposed as a lie.

Donald Trump says Clinton's Secret Service detail should lay down there weapons and "see what happens" as he repeatedly mischaraterizes his opponent's stance on the Second Amendment. Perhaps Donald Trump should forego his attacks on the media "and see what happens" and then release his tax returns like every other candidate since the 70's and "see what happens."

Donald Trump can order who should police arrest?
Didn't know he had control over police, or am I missing something?

The little nuanced detail that the hotel manager out of the blue decided to have a journalist (in the midst of questioning if he was allows to be there) arrested just falls flat in the face of all logic.

I'm sure a word was had between Trump/Trump's campaign toward the manager.

Crooked, murderous, criminal Hillary, blah blah blah.
Amirite, Nikola? Amirite.

Can't bloody wait.

But I'm apprehensive that it may just get worse here, mate.

Us foreigners (I can speak for us, right?) are in limbo I feel.

So because the hotel manager had him arrested it's Mr. Trumps fault?

More tabloid stories from ante, keep up the awesome work bro.

Trump should order police to arrest Hillary.
You guys were right. They are working together, after all!

Joking aside, I still don't understand what Trump has to do with any of this. He cannot order police to arrest those he does not like. Unless you claim he can do exactly that, and show me some evidence, I'd say this is just another anti-Trump propaganda news piece, from our number 1 anti-Trump member...

I see the op has been edited to include Trumps taxes and his support for gun rights.

Getting desperate.

I wouldn't call it desperate.
It's not like he's posting multiple anti-Trump threads daily!

Oh, wait. Never mind...

Actually I resent that, despite my lack of threads I'm for sure Trump's biggest critic here, I just don't have the wit of Theantediluvian to create such funny triggering threads.

Poe's Law will obviously bypass most of the right wing though.

The only thing getting triggered is my funny bone, these threads are pure comedy gold.

How might that work? Well let's see:

The Trump campaign is butthurt at Vice News so they're playing games with issuing credentials. The Vice News reporter arrives at the venue to inquire about the status of the credentials he should have already had. As the reporter is waiting for a response from the Trump campaign, the Hotel Manager of the Omni Westside Hotel warns him that he's trespassing.

That would be the manager of the Omni Westside Hotel, the hotel that Donald Trump is paying for space to host his event. The police took the journalist into custody on the strength of the word of the Hotel Manager.

Did the manager call the Trump campaign contact? If he did, then they're definitely on the hook. If he didn't, why wouldn't he have called the campaign staff before the police despite the man presenting himself as a journalist?

You want to bet that this would never have happened to a journalist from Breitbart News? How about Fox News? The Daily Caller? WND? A holocaust denying white supremacist podcaster (that guy gets VIP parking).

Of course not because first and foremost, they would never had to show up to an event without press credentials because Donald Trump isn't trying to keep them out.

If I went to McDonalds and caused a scene and they called the police, it wouldn't be because I was eating a hamburger. It would be because I was causing a scene.

As has been intended for about 6 months now.

What looks desperate in my opinion is the flood of Trumpeteers who rush into every thread I create about Trump and try to derail them with unclever one-liners. It happens so frequently that maybe we should give it a name. Basket of deplorables is already taken though... hmmm...

Rush of Deniers?
Stampede of Snowflakes?
Blitz of Bulls#?
Flood of Haters?
Dash of Desperation?

I used to buy Burger King and take it into McDonald's to sit down and eat.

F the system.

Actually I immediately thought of him when I saw that comment. It happens on both sides. Seems to be more one way one day and more the other another day... Wonder why it seems to shift like that.
