This just broke on FNC, they showed photos of a garbage can that the pipe bomb that exploded was hidden.. The race and events have been cancelled while the authorities continue their investigation...

www.reuters.com...

A bomb exploded in Seaside Park, New Jersey, on Saturday along the route of a planned road race that was then canceled, a prosecutor and local media said.

The Ocean County prosecutor's office said on Facebook that no injuries or damage to surrounding structures were reported after a device exploded within a garbage pail.

A second device was found near the site of the explosion, according to NJ.com, quoting the prosecutor's spokesman, Al Della Fave. It was no immediate clear whether the second device was detonated.

Lo explosive, and no frag, the can next to it doesn't appear to be holed or collapsed by any pressure wave.

Firework?

The word "small" was intentionally left out in the opening line from Reuters article?

Well if there was a crowd of spectators there, no doubt there would be injuries..possibly a death.

Well I am a conservative right wing nut (minus the religious aspect) and this was not even close to a terrorist attack. $10 at home depot would cause 200X more damage. This is nothing.

Most likely not. Extremely minor damage.

Why are you so paranoid?

Pretty much. The aluminum frame holding the can is intact, the plastic is only blown out in some spots, and the garbage inside it was only thrown a few inches at most.

Crazy! Slightly off topic but, In South Texas local news, The fbi intercepted a bomb just outside of a small town on I35. Couldn't find a link online for it but the story ran in the local newspaper.

Bomb season or what?

Maybe, maybe not. You shouldn't dwell on 'what if' statements, It'll make you crazy. This was small potatoes and a symptom of a 24 hour news cycle hungry for its next hit.
