Probably because there's never been a "bill to rescind the second amendment" wouldn't you say? Kinda hard to say if she would or wouldn't vote for something when it's never happened.

Strawman fail.

She and Obama have had eight years to do it, it was foretold right here on ATS even.

Many laws have been written to defund, defunct or rescind the right to abortion. The last right to privacy.

None of which changes the fact that no bill has ever been presented to rescind the amendment, so there was no bill to vote up or down on.

Using that logic, the abortion argument flies out the window. Trump has never voted up or down on an abortion bill. Of course, he's never been in congress so he couldn't have voted to begin with but with your logic, we just ignore that. Right?

No.

They had 2 years actually. 2008-2010. If they would have tried it during that time the blowback combined with the tea party surge at that time would have given GOP a supermajority in both houses to rescind the law by 2012. Or before 2012 if a constitutional convention was called by the states.

Neither Congress nor the president has the authority to rescind the 2nd Amendment. It would take a Constitutional amendment to repeal or change it, and that requires ratification of three quarters of the state legislatures.

They have, however, tried their damnedest to chip around the edges of 2A, including repeatedly attempting to pass a new AWB which would be the biggest set of restrictions on gun rights in two decades...and ironically, that last major set of gun rights restrictions was also a Clinton effort, the 1994 AWB. Thankfully, the GOP Congress has been successful at stopping them from enacting a new and restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens to this point.

The GOP is a sore subject here. If they both houses were 100% Republican, they'd still cower in the shadow of Obama, and will be spineless with a President Clinton too.

I don't believe Trump could make up his mind on how to vote on any issue. He changes every five days. Usually Friday night.
Logic does not apply.

Hillary's worst position on guns is her stance where if the government places you on a list, you lose your rights.

I can't think of anything more "deplorable" than that.

Are you referring to the "Terrorist Watch List"?

Exactly.

With a stroke of a pen, she can eliminate the rights of anyone she chooses.

Her worst position on gun rights isn't a position on gun rights. Its the people that she'd nominate to the Supreme Court and how she would use them to completely redefine the interpretation of the 2nd Amendment through their case decisions.

Agreed. The problem is rewriting the law so it doesn't criminalize the average citizen. There are laws against that.

The want to repeal the PLCAA which opens a whole can of nasty worms where gun manufactures and gun dealers can be sued for the actions of an individual who uses their product. The point would be to get a lawsuit into the Supreme court which would make a gun manufacturer very liable for individual weapon usage. defacto Banning weapon manufacturing through threat of lawsuit.
That is why the supreme court is such a big deal.

You have hit the nail squarely on the head.

This is the little gem, tucked away in the Democratic platform, that would...over time...have an enormous chilling effect on the sale of firearms in the United States. If victims of gun violence can sue gun manufacturers and dealers (and private sellers?), how long would it take before they go out of business? The lack of availability of legally authorized sellers, would have the same effect as eliminating - or severely limiting - the 2nd Amendment.

Of course, criminals and crazy people...as one poster put it...would still find a way to get weapons illegally.

The other worrisome aspect of this platform position, were it ever enacted, is that it would set a precedent for the ability to sue any other manufacturer or dealer of a product that has the capability of killing a human, if used improperly or illegally.

Some examples? Knives...baseball bats...archery gear...hockey sticks...rat poison...motorcycle helmets...maybe even cars. I am sure you can think of a few more.

Yep. The whole reason that the Dems want so desperately to repeal the PLCAA is so that they can force the gun manufacturers to defend a constant stream of frivolous lawsuits that will ultimately bleed them dry and force them out of business.

Lol! And trump wants what? To eliminate their rights before they get here? Trample all over their rights by sending them away? They are assumed to be a terrorist just because of their religion, or the region they come from? At least the current administration, and Clinton's, will have some justification for placing them on "a list", and not just willy nilly, blanket-list-everybody, like trump wants to do.

I have a hunch it will be spun into another threat on Hillary, like the last time the whole gun thing came up. Evil Trump fantasizes about Hillary getting shot, urges her Secret Service agents to disarm.

His second threat on her life. Oh, the horror! It gives them their Trump hit piece for the day.

Indeed..... what the lame stream media is trying to do with it. More comedy as their desperation mounts, under pressure stupid sh*t look lie pure high IQ at work. But its not.

That has already been done through the Patriot Act. The reason we can have a terrorist list and no fly list is by skipping due process. U.S. citizens have no way to challenge their inclusion on these lists "because they are only told generally that the placement resulted from undisclosed intelligence and surveillance." Only two people didn't vote for it , Feinstein and Sanders. I am sure Hillary and, Trump especially, will use the loophole to the fullest potential.

Exactly. Where precisely has Clinton ever said she wants to disarm anybody?

You can't find a link because she hasn't ever said that.

She wants better controls to stop lunatics and crazy people getting their hands on assault weapons. That's it.

And if somebody has a problem with lunatics and crazy people not being allowed to buy assault weapons, then, heck, they're probably a lunatic and/or crazy person themselves.

And yes, this is Trump yet again making a veiled call to his supporters that if they lose and they don't like the result, they should assassinate the winner. This is... unbelievably stupid and dangerous of him. He knows how many of his supporters will read these statements he makes.

Look up the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act/ Assault Weapons BAN (AWB)

Bill Clinton banned so-called "assault wepaons for EVERYBODY for 10 years. Hillary fully supported the AWB and wanted to make it permanent.

It was proven to be completely ineffective.

There is no doubt Hillary will attempt more draconian measures if elected.
Last year Hillary proposed a forced buyback program modeled on the Australian disarming of citizens.
