Can we Blame the Blues Brothers for the 80's Blues revival?

Chicago blues in particular. Look at the music in the movies then:

That's Chicago blues. And there much more. Here's the thing. The Blues Brothers came out in 1980. With music like:

Did they bring blues to the forefront again?

They might have added to it.

Clapton was a disciple before they came on the scene. And his influence was huge.

One of my favorite all time movie's and yes it did introduce a whole generation to Blue's music both there in the state's in the rest of the English speaking world and beyond.

Plus the Penguin was hilarious.

Maybe. Aykroyd and Belushi were very popular and some, particularly younger, audience members may have discovered the likes of Franklin and Calloway.

I think Aretha was/is very influential. Certainly, she contributed to the revived interest in opera following this from 1998:

Can't disagree as Stevie is my fav guitarist BUT would he have been as popular if the stage hadn't already been set by the BB's?
