Who wants to bet in 2 weeks this will be resolved.
Or sooner.

Colonial Pipeline said it does not expect to fully reopen its primary gasoline pipeline until next week.

It's a leak. They are fixing it.

Yep, and the environmental effect is already covered, the line isn't spewing gas into the environment. The containment pond will have to be dealt with, and that's about all.

As usual CNN makes a mountain out of a molehill.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean this, from the OP?

A leak has caused the closure of a crucial pipeline that carries gasoline to the eastern United States, a disruption that threatens to drive up prices and leave service stations without fuel to sell.
Seems to be quite to the point. Prices did go up and there are shortages.

I simply meant the price increase is minimal, and the shortages are also minimal.

In 2 weeks tops the crisis will be a non-sequitur. The crisis will be over and gas will flow as usual.

CNN made this out to be the crisis that drives the east coast into oblivion. It's not.

I don't see them saying that.

Fair enough, I should have placed the sensationalist blame on the OP.

I don't see it in the OP either. Nor the thread title, which is the usual place for hyperbole.

"East Coast faces Gas Shortages After Pipeline Leak"

You didn't read the title?

It's not the "EAST COAST" facing this, it's selective areas. And very few of them.

That is sensationalistic.

In that case you're back to CNN because it is their title.
But I don't see it as being outrageous.

Did the east coast as a collective experience gas hikes and shortages?

Not yet. No.

So, isn't it a bit sensationalistic to claim the entire east coast will face shortages and rate hikes? Even though it won't happen?

Like I said, headlines.

But if you say you're going to the east coast, does it mean you're going everywhere on east coast?

Me personally? Yes.

As far as headlines, yep I get it. Click-bait. It doesn't make it less sensational. In reality it's a non-story that kept you and I in a discussion of merit, so yea the headline worked.

Yep , no gas at the sheetz I stop at on the way to work for 2 days now. I am sure it has been a problem for some folks. We were gone for a week at the beach and just got back thursday and I wondered why all the pumps had yellow bags on them and the gas price for all blends was 0.00 .
