The Op has asked who or what is the Devil and does the Devil exist.
Interesting questions, that many theologians have been trying to answer for years. I can answer one of those questions and explain the other one in
terms that is easily explained.
Who or what is the devil.
That question is both simple and a bit difficult to explain. The devil, aka Satan, is one being that held the one position that was unlike anything
else in creation. That is the first Angel, of the highest choir, the first every created, and the one to reflect God directly.
If you look at angels, and the bible and different related texts, we can gather that there has been wars in heaven, where angels rebelled against God
and were sent into perdition. However, the one that never runs, that is not afraid, is Satan. And it makes sense, if you look at the bible, no one
can see God directly, and even hearing God has problems. Angels were created to be aspects of God directly, to do God’s bidding on a creation that
God could not directly touch or influence without causing more problems. Most of the time, according to some theologians, when God speaks, it is an
angel that delivers the message, as the voice of God can destroy and create, but very rarely communicates via a whisper. Even if you read on Moses,
when God revealed his presence to Moses, he was forever changed having to be forever covered up and was carried after that, just from being in the
mere presence of such.
And then you look at the other books, and demons run in the presence of God or even Jesus, but the Devil does not seem affected by such. So it stands
to reason that the Devil is an angel that was the reflection of God, that rebelled against God, trying to take the Throne and was cast from heaven.
Does he exist.
That argument has been going on for a long time and ultimately here is what most can tell.
The devil or God can not and usually does not directly move on the earth, but works through others. If anything they whisper and influence, and do
slight nudges here and there. Direct contact would end the life of the person and thus they tend to find whispering and nudging to be more to the
point. Think of it like say a Mcdonalds and you are hungry. You walk by, smell the food, get hungry. That is what the Devil does, the rest is
simply a matter of free will.
