Microbreweries have really taken off in South Africa, but I still prefer our normal, bog standard SAB (South African Brewery) beers.
And aficionados may stone me, but my favorite is Black Label.
It's still the most popular working class beer.
Second is probably Castle (Charles Glass).
We have a popular drinking song: "When we drink Castle we hurl across the table, 'cause Charles Glass can kiss my a** 'cause we all drink Black
Amusingly enough they're all brewed by SAB.
The only real alternative (before craft beer recently took off) was Windhoek beer.
This is brewed in Namibia according to the German purity law.
But still to me there's nothing as refreshing as Black Label draught.
