This happens at the end of any 8 year President when the people that feel that specific President was the AntiChrist.

That sentiment seems higher with Obama but paranoid people, not saying OP, are gonna be paranoid.

True, just look at previous threads here...

I remember a few years back when Bush was about to leave and people were talking about him staying on for a third term and I remember seeing a bloke on Fox or CNN (can't remember which) and he said that the only way for any President to extend their term is in a national emergency or by vote of congress, that it wasn't against the law but there was ways of doing it.

Personally, Obama doesn't want to do it. He served his eight years in the white house (or the house that slaves built as Michelle likes to call it) and wants to get out because he has his bank now, he can just go on tour give a few speeches a make a couple million, so they're set for life Obama cannot wait to get out of there and get to the golf course lol.

No...Presidents are a temporary figurehead. In and out. Otherwise...we would have them for life (theirs)...like some other countries.

Ours does not work that way. In and out...maybe one more term..maybe into an act of Congress 3rd term by vote...but that wont happen.

Same reason its been mentioned why they dont get out disclosure about "alien life". They ask, they get nothing definite. Why? Because a president does not have sufficient security clearances to be told everything our country knows. Why? Because a President is temporary...and thats for a reason.

..and those who run the workings of our continuing government.... do so constantly without interruption...no matter who is president or who is going to be....the country continues all the while...

Presidents are largely figureheads....can you imagine 30-50 years of a Bush? Or Obama?

Under Executive Order 13603, Barack Obama can also stay in office as President of the United States if an emergency occurs. If Obama declares martial law in the event of an emergency, then he can stay in office as long as he wishes.

The sort of emergency that would warrant that would be of such magnitude, that we're not going to care whose carcass is in the White House, we'll be too busy either digging out, or getting out of the way.

Once the election is in the books, two week and a bit, he's done. No one will be listening, frankly, the swearing in shouldn't wait 'til January, it should take place before the week is out on election day. If the winning candidate hasn't already decided upon his or her cabinet, and transition team...he or she shouldn't be elected, or sworn in.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of emergency would warrant that sort of declaration of martial law? I can't think of one, frankly. None that would instantly be protested by just about everyone, probably including his wife.

Exactly where in that executive order is that stated?

It has no provisions for declaring martial law. None. It's, at best, an update of rules in place since the 1950's.

Just got through reading it, there are no mentions of martial law. None.
