A College Park, Maryland, school bus driver was hailed for her heroic actions after the bus she was driving caught fire Monday.

The fire was reported at about 4:45 p.m Monday along the 9600 block of 51st Avenue in College Park, according to Mark Brady, the public information officer for Prince George’s County, MD Fire and EMS Department.

A light in all the doom, gloom and the political circus.

I love uplifting stories too, but I need to ask... If she took all of the kids out, one by one, that means it took at least 20 minutes to evacuate... and the kids remained calm? Or did I misread it all?

Wow. I am amazed at this woman's bravery and selflessness. Here our school bus drivers own or rent to own their bus. They aren't the school parishes property. At the very least she should be given a brand new bus free of charge, a raise, and maybe even some scholarship money set aside for her children.

Real life heroes should be rewarded. Greatly rewarded.

As explained in the image they said she removed them one by one. Though, not seeing additional info sharing if they were panicked or not. She may have kept them calm possibly by removing them that way instead of lining up and possibly being panicked for example.

Included in the source is a video of the buss, it eventually became engulfed in flames. Appears she acted at the first moment of fire and rightfully so.

Good to read about someone being human for a change.

Hope she gets a school trophy named after her or something similar.
A very good example to set for the kids.

Why would it take at least 20 minutes?
