“To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables.’ Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it,” Hillary Clinton said.

www.washingtontimes.com...

How rude. Has she gone crazy or need anger management? Does she really believe what she says? I wonder if she only apologized because it was forced. What do you think ATS?

This is going to blow up in her face. I wonder if she realizes that most of our nations poor, are democrats, who have had to rely on the welfare system and other socialistic programs. She thinks she is so far above everyone else.

It reminds me of the aesop fable of the fox and the grapes. When the fox couldnt get them he called them "sour grapes". Anyone not on her team, isnt worth having. lol

Yeah, she regrets not being nicer about how she called half the nation deplorable.

She only regrets "half". She meant to say "all".

Translation : "Ooops. I let my hatred for the little people show through and it's hurting my chances to be elected so I better issue a fake apology"

You forgot to mention retire from the public eye and let others campaign for me so I stop shooting myself in the foot like I do every time I actually get on stage.

It seems Hillbot needs a bit of reprogramming.

She only regrets saying "half"...because people with low comprehension can't put the phrase "grossly generalization" and "half" together and deduce that "half" is the generalization.

She probably wishes she would have said "some" or "a segment" instead of half.

But she isn't backtracking on calling out the deplorables, and she shouldn't.

The interesting thing about all of this is that many have been called racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, here simply because we don't support Hillary for president.

In the grand scheme of things, it's really no big deal. Name-calling is no big deal.

But we are seeing (what might possibly be) the future president insult and marginalize millions of Americans.

Now many are saying that racism, sexism etc is deplorable. So what she said was correct, so they say.

The problem arises when you assign these "deplorable" labels on people for simply disagreeing with you. Now it'll be okay to say that people are deplorable because we've already associated "deplorable" with anyone who gets called sexist, racist, etc.

Ultimately, who cares if someone THINKS a certain way. We have laws that prevent people from acting a certain way. But do we need to start attacking and punishing people for THINKING a certain way?

Hillary is free to think the way she thinks. But so are the remaining 320 million Americans.

Personally, I find Hillary Clinton, "deplorable".

Nope, not true.

But it's not Hillary's fault if you can't comprehend that.

If the shoe fits wear it! It's amazing how Trump supporters are offended by rudeness when Trump is the king of rudeness!
There is some truth to the basket of deplorables. It was wrong she painted every Trump supporter with a broad brush, but than again Trumps has done it too! Maybe she should have added gullible and ignorant to the basket.

This is a reply to Ketsuko, but I screwed up and didn't hit "reply". I should know better than to type before my 3rd cup.

Slips like this and something someone said to me in another thread, show how the Democrats really look down on Conservatives. The fact that someone actually said to me they want Conservatives out of the public discourse of politics, just re enforced what I already knew. It was one of those "Gotcha!" moments, when their true thoughts shown through, just like Hillary's gaff. They can't stand anyone outside their group think and despise ideas other than their own.

And you honestly think the Clinton supporters are all rainbows and sunshine? That there aren't just as many deplorables in her camp? Are you really that gullible?

I was on the train to Fan Ling a few hours ago. That's up near the chinese border and it was on the news.

LOL!!

They don't comment on the stories, just do straight news reporting.

They were showing the FaceBook posts of Trump and Hillary besides showing her speech with chinese subtitles. (no sound on the train tho)

We have the news on now to see what, if anything they say about it.

She can backpedal all the way to her grave, but she'll still be a bigot.

She only regrets that the video got out and it made a big stink.

Note how she said "what I call the basket of deplorables", which really means that wasn't some impromptu on the fly assertion. That's what she calls 'em.

Etc.

Everyone knows you don't go full SJW!

I don't see you doing any such calculus with your words when it doesn't suit you to try to make them less damaging. Generally, you are happy to toss us all into the basket of deplorables. Why the sudden change of heart?

Oh, it now makes Hillary look bad if you don't.

You're just confused. Most trump supporters simply don't recognize an apology.
They are just used to the doubling down and then walking back statements that fly out of the trashes mouth.
I know class is unheard of and so this realization, from a candidate, that maybe what she said was offensive and she realized it and is now saying she's sorry seems strange, possibly even weak.
I know that Trump supporters expect that she would increase those insults over the next few days .They expect her to give speeches where she says "oh I'm so misunderstood, the media picks on me, don't you guys recognize sarcasm?" or even simply deny that she said it at all...videos be damned.
But adults, honest adults do apologize.
We're still waiting for the birth certificate apology, eight years now. The Khans are still waiting, Meghan Kelly is still waiting, the Mexicans and Muslims are still waiting.
I know that this is want is expected because we all know that trumps DEPLORABLE behavior always follows that pattern.

This apology after realizing that maybe it wasn't fair to say that...is what should happen. Not the other stuff.

Trump has never by his own admission asked for forgiveness. Never he says.
And he owes a lot of apologies.

Hillary has class and realizes a mistake, which humans make, needs to be corrected. Not ignored.

What apology?

And like the "deplorables" statement wasn't from the heart. It was but a continuation of her "Racist Racist Racist Racist Racist Speech" I just posted.

Nobody's but a diehard Hillary fanatic will ever believe she didn't mean it.

Please provide any quotes of mine where I throw "ALL" Trump voters into any basket.

I am not shy about calling out the segment of the Alt-Right supporters who are racists, sexist, and white nationalist...I don't think anyone should be shy about that.

But I have never said that ALL Trump supporters fit that category...and neither has Clinton.

She needs to apologize for even running. Quite honestly, for someone to be under so much ridicule herself, I don't think she should be calling anyone, anything.

Thanks,

Somehow, I don't feel very apologized to.

She didn't change what she said at all. Maybe you need to re-read her statement.

What she's counting on is that people will "virtue-signal" and say, "Oh well, she didn't mean me because that's not me." But it doesn't change the fact that she said and she's still saying it today. The only difference is that she's injected David Duke's name in there counting on him to create virtue signalling and a cover for her real sentiment.
