Discrimination and Racism are not just a White Western issue

All too often I read or watch some show, report or documentary where it is more often than not pushed as being an overly white/western phenomena. When in reality, these racist discriminatory practices and behaviors go on all around the globe. Today, I'd like to post some images, these are from Thailand. Not a "White or Western" country/culture by any stretch of the imagination.



Ask yourself, Would you accept these to be posted in your Country? And if so, Why?

It would seem that everywhere .... but the US is, and has racist policy or attitudes. We have our own, but I believe we are eclipsed by nearly every other country.

Ignorance, hatred and xenophobia know no boundaries. Unfortunately, they're universal. It's important to resist acceptance of these ideals.

With my businesses I saw everyone the same way, they had green money. As long as they behaved appropriately I would be happy to take their money in exchange for my services.

Racist and discriminative behavior is not solely a western construct and frankly I find that it is more of an uneducated construct as opposed to a more cultural one.

I know growing up in So California in the 50's,the people I remember making racial jokes and nicknames for all races,were the people who migrated from the south,none were ever befriended but all got their butts kicked more then once,then the dad would get shipped elsewhere,as an adult yes worked with all races,and everyone had some enemy,guess it must be a part of human nature,try to hide your short commings by making fun of others,IMO racism is a way of showing your jealous of them,and by the way I grew up in an all white area we were only one in area with a spanish surname,so was an interesting time,excellent character builder,my old addage,don't worry about others differences take a look at yourself

Racism has existed, is still exists and will exist.

Racism is a thought process. Albeit a poor one, but a thought process all the same.

Until we get to a point where we dictate thought, control thought, racism will always exist.

To be fair, racism or even racialism is a product of Western pseudoscience of the 19th century.

I served in the military for decades. No where else are people of different 'ethnicities' forced to live with one another. We get along. We bond. It's always a force (farce?) of leadership serving to separate us back into what we were before. Maybe ... that's the plan.

I believe people should be free to choose and that we shouldn't attack one another over differences beyond our personal control. Segregation serves limited purposes and has major drawbacks. I've never believed in promoting diversity as it is fraught with the same types of negativities. Sometimes sleeping dogs need to be left to lie.

I have lived around the world and every group has their xenophobic types. The irony is rather palpable - we're all the same with our racism.

I think you will find that they are in the minority however. Even countries politically at odds will have their citizens inviting you in for tea to talk about baseball, in the middle of a desert! I hope you get to give it a try some day.

You should have paid a lot more attention in geography class.
