It's an odd leap, but given that an accusation of racism seems so easy and trivial these days, I'm not surprised that a message of hope can be portrayed in such a way.

His reasoning is that it's a message for white southerners (quite a divisive thing to say) and a call for them to climb the social totem pole again, bringing others down. I was not aware that non-whites in America had it so good right now?

He also said that it's akin to telling old Americans that they can be made 20 again. Another odd statement.

Anyway, the kicker is that Bill himself used the term in 2008 in an advert for his wife, appealing to the country and African Americans in particular on the basis of jobs and the economy. Go figure.

Maybe it's only racist when someone else uses it.

So is the slogan 'Make America Great Again ' racist?

This is off the back of him saying that 10,000 Syrians should take jobs in Detroit

Maybe he is going senile.

When the Clinton's get backed in a corner...

They have been screaming "You're Racist" for 30 years.

That's the Clinton's dog whistle.

They have officially run out of excuses. Ya ever noticed that? They get backed in to a corner, can't defend their position and quicker than Doc Holliday, out come the "racist" card.

Trump should make him 'Presidential Envoy' to Serbia when he wins the election.

A one way flight of course

I don't think that is the whole of the meaning when Trump says it, but he knows what a certain segment of the population that like him will hear.

When Clinton said it, I don't think he was trying to reach that particular demographic . Just a hunch. Clinton said it once and he probably didn't even write the ad. It is Trump's slogan.

The source is irrelevant. Actual quotes used and video posted of Clinton in 2008 using the term himself.

Taking Trump's campaign rhetoric and approach in to account, Bill does have a valid point or concern.

Trump's campaign is very reminiscent of that of George Wallace, in which he used the slogan "stand up for America". A slogan that is innocent on it's face, but rooted is racial bias and tones.

Where's their diagram of one of Trump's hats, where it demonstrates how even the shape and style of it is racist? How could they drop the ball like this?!?

Why is this old fool even still relevant???.......

To make a statement like that when the USA has the social issues that it does is absurd, get your priorities right...

Bill Clinton has used it more than once.
I am confused... does it have racist undertones when Trump says it but not when Clinton says it?
I do find it a bit odd, even in this day and age, that "Make America Great Again" could be seen as somehow racist.
