My suggestion would be to forget dating sites, wash your hair and go out to bars, coffee shops, even the damn post office and pick up women like a normal person. Take em out to dinner, drinks and dancing and let nature take it's course. No tests, no games, no codes....just time honored seduction. If it work out fine, if not....it's a wide wonderful world with challenges around every corner.

I would have the same suggestion, except: There will still be tests, games, and codes. Women tend to be like that, and these days men too.

A book store would have been a fairy tale meeting place, in my opinion! Sound advice

So what you are saying is . . . that when I do open up my bookstore in the future, I should have some type of singles meet and greet night?

Got a lot of friends that play that game. Guys only want a one night stand and they lie like crazy. Stay totally away from dating sites. Scary people and they all lie.
I think the volunteering was a great idea-if that's your sort of thing.
Take a fishing trip when u can meet other guys-that know people. Enjoy yourself.

I think that is a wonderful idea! Though, were I single, I may be too shy to attend. Maybe wait till you have regulars so they feel comfortable.

But it's true! You think that online will work better? Give me a break, that's as bad as looking for a mate in a bar or at a rave.

I have standards. Everyone should.

You need to go out there and grab life by the balls. Sure, there's risk. But it's got odds that are in your favor.

If you hide behind a screen, you're taking too great a risk. Serial killers love those dating sites. They're like a database of prey, ya know? Prey that is eager to be prey, no less! Bad idea, imo. The odds are not in your favor with regards to online dating, regardless of what the stupid infomercials tell you.

UM that sounds like a good idea actually. Have little hors d'oeuvres...maybe some bubbly...it could be fun! And classy! That's what matters. Just keep it classy, and you'll find classy people. Easy peasy lemon squeasy. People love free food. You'll have a mass of humanity there, if you have good stuff for free. In that case, perhaps it should be RSVP only--so that way it's more exclusive!

Ya need confidence!

I am sorry, it was a sexist type of a joke
I totally agree with you
I can imagine blokes flicking between these dating sites and porn sites and what goes on in their minds
People are social at their very core, relationships help us inter grate in society healthily
Places like ats not so much, bunch of tinfoil hat wearing wierdos, if we get to carried away with all the stuff we see and think
We need others to keep us grounded

All that agreement must be tempered with the simple statement that I am sure there are sincere "normal" people on those sites as well.
I know of a few people who have met on dating sites

Just got to be careful

My original post was, trash advice, but not reading your original post, I decided to delete that reply and simply state, if you are looking for a lasting meaningful relationship, my original post is on point.

I have 3. 2 Great Pyrenees and a Rat Terrier.
And 2 cats.
And a ferret.
I don't drink, but I do go up to the local VFW when they have dinners. Some of the food is pretty good.

Oh dear.

Well, the 3.2 Great Pyrenees might be an issue (as I read it at first, thought someone was pregnant).

Those are big dogs. And rat terriers are... rather energetic. Must keep you busy. Maybe off-putting for most women.

The two cats are okay.

The ferret puts you in 'out there' territory though.

And the VFW is generally older widows and men with a lot of drinkers and smokers, unless the one you frequent varies considerably from the one I know about. Sad place, really.

Too bad my niece is taken. She loves ferrets and has two of her own. But she lives in Thailand and got married recently.

All I can tell you now is smile more. And get off this board, you'll never meet anyone sitting at home.

Start a Meetup. For ferret lovers or Great Pyrenee lovers or dog walkers or whatever else you like to talk about. UFOs or whatever.
