Is this the saddest song ever?

It is for me.

Immortal Technique: You never know.

My heart cries for you-a special love lost forever. That has never happened to me but felt it did through your music-fate. I'll be thinking of you and pray your pain lessens with time. That's really the only cure for that deep of pain. But remember, you are not alone. Besides the death of a loved one, the feeling of unrequited love can feel as real and a lot of us have lived through that and survived. You will too-don't be afraid to share that pain but don't hold onto it either-don't let it define you. You have a lot of life and love to share-someone needs you and is waiting for you, too.

I wasn't sure I was going to like it. But, I challenged myself and was surprised by the music, beautiful. I read the lyrics intently as he sang.

Like above, I too found the female harmony parts very lovely. As well as the moral of the story. Sometimes we just do not know how lucky, blessed we are with what we have.......until we lose it and it is gone forever, except for the haunting memories.

Peace

KD

One of my faves.......never let the time pass by without telling the one's you love, that you love them.

After 30 years of listening to it, I decided to listen to the lyrics of "Black Pearl, by the Checkmates."

One of the saddest songs I have ever heard.

I learned more about what its like to be black by listening to that song than the sum total of 60+ years of otherwise gained knowledge of what its like to be black.

I have always found this to be an incredibly sad song that is more mainstream then the usual depressive stuff I listen to.

The song is Almost Lover by the band A Fine Frenzy

Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images

You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick

Well, I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images

And when you left, you kissed my lips
You told me you would never, never forget
These images

Well, I'd never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you're gone and I'm haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy to walk right in and out
Of my life?

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

You absolutely got the message to the song. And it is a fundamental message I think.
