Very good! Well done!

I'm more of a Donald Duck man myself, but you've got me taking Mickey a lot more seriously.

Donald is a good choice. I have a hard time understanding him sometimes.

Anyway, many people do not know that you have the option to write in a candidate. A write-in vote may not get someone elected, but you do have a choice. I wish we had another option on the ballots and that is a vote of no confidence.

Agreed... One of the worst political seasons I've ever seen.

Voting for Trump. When I look at the issues that are important to me, Trump is the only choice.

Optimism; We need more optimism in the country. I sick of being told why America is bad instead of celebrating what makes us great. I want to put America first instead of worrying about everyone else.

Lower Taxes; As someone who has to pay more than my fair share, I want a tax break. I'm sick of giving my hard earned money to a government that pisses it away. At a minimum, I want the money to be spent wisely

American Worker; Globalism has been bad for our middle class. Trump is the only candidate that recognizes this fact and has a plan to keep our manufacturing jobs in the US.

Straight Talk; Trump is boorish, but sometimes you need someone who just says what everyone is thinking. I'm tired of the political double speak. Just give it to us straight.

Real World Experience; Trump is the only candidate that has actually had to create a job, meet payroll, and produce something of value. He knows what it is like to risk everything for a dream and how government policies hamper the productive class

Foreign Policy; Trump doesn't want to nation build. This was a huge disagreement I had with prior Republicans. We need to stay out of others affairs. I could careless about some of these third world toilet countries. We have neighborhoods here in America that could use some of that spending. Why are we building schools in Afghanistan when 50% of Chicago kids can barely read?

Explain WHY your candidate is the best one. What they will do for me, for my country and for the world.

"my country" no, its their country, the ruling class owns it, not you. As proof go account for "your gold" in Fort Knox to make sure its all still there. You are not allowed to because it is not yours.

"your candidate" no, its their representative, the representative of both the elites and the lesser degree the ignorant masses. If you really want someone who represents you in office then your only option is to physically move. Bernie is an actual representative of many people in Vermont for example. If someone wants Bernie to be their leader, move to Vermont.

The ONLY way of voting in a way that makes areal difference is to vote with your FEET. Socialists can move to the Netherlands. Libertarians can move to New Hampshire. Christians can move to Kentucky. People move all the time for their jobs, but strangely it is rare someone will move for overall success in life. That is very surprising to me. If you are not willing to move for your job but not also your fundamental principles of life, that is questionable to me.

Voting in the traditional sense is a waste of time both in theory and practice. In theory, you make no statistical difference if more than 5,000 people are voting. Do statistics experts ever do polls with more than about 5,000 people? No, because the percentage will not change substantially after that point. Voting to change things is most likely to result in you never participating in a vote where just one vote made the difference. Voting to make a difference is simply a waste of time.

Voting to express your opinion is fine. However, if you are going to do that why waste your vote on a lesser evil? Just write in someone who would actually represent YOU and actually do a GOOD job. Go ahead and write in your own name or the name of someone you actually trust in real life. Otherwise you can be 100% sure to throw out your vote is to vote for someone who WON'T completely represent you even if they are elected if you vote for a lesser evil. This is a much more proper way to vote but not nearly as good as voting with your feet.

If I'm kidnapped forced to choose between death by drowning in a lake or death by being hacked with a katana, I'll go ahead and choose neither. On that same line of thinking, I won't be voting for either Hillary or Trump even though I do view Hillary as a literal certifiable psychopath and Trump merely as a fascist dictator wannabe which is much better in my opinion.

I understand.

I'm home schooling my son and was on a break. But now it's time to help him again.

I'll check back in later.

So far you all are surprising me.....in a good and happy way. This might even be the first Mud Pit thread where no mud was flung.....

(and now I've most likely jinxed it).

Gasping...
I promised I wouldn't get into political threads. I'm not a mean guy, and i got alot to think about in one month.

I will say this. I've had the Trump Cookies, they are white oreo's basically (in lue of oreos going to Mexico). Twice so far Trump has stopped by Pittsburgh, at PIT International and the County Airport. Secret Service and the pilot explained that once he opens a bag of cookies, if he doesn't finish them, he will open a new bag and discard the old. So i got some.
When he returned, he was all about getting photo's with Alleghany County Fire Authority (AARF) past and present.

He let the the new Assistant Chief's boy, sit in his seat on the plane (more pics just with our personal Cell Phones no media ). He was different than he is on TV. He let the boy whom i know, sit on his lap for a conversation that seemed to last about 10 minutes. Just smiles and no craziness.

Hillery is a tough one to get close to when she comes here. Twice as many Secret Service with tight rules. She's snuck in a couple of times when Obama Flew in awhile back. Fundraiser in a town up the river called Fox Chapel. So i dont have much on her... sorry.

I'm sorry but right now I can feel the stress till Nov. Honestly I would write in my uncle, Retired Captain of a Navy Career going back to the armistice of the Korean war. In Vietnam, Commmander of the 7'th fleet, had Bush and Gorbachev on his ship for talks on a matter that i forgot. Head of amphibious warfare during the Gulf War... Claimes to have worked in the basement of the Pentagon. Based in San Diego yet worked in D.C. towards the end of his career. Taught NJROTC at a high school in Long Beach Ca. now teaching Algebra and Trigonometry at a community college in West Virginia. Humble guy.

He has a great understanding of Foreign Policy and a Teacher at Heart. He loves math, so perhaps balance a budget.
Sigh.. i kept it clean

Edit: wow this thread moved fast.

Agree. To me the SCOTUS picks are of great concern. No more rulings like Citizen United. Roe v Wade must stand. Also, the Democratic Party is against privatization, such as for the VA and Social Security.

Some really good replies so far, and I've dished out some applauds to them.

On a good note, I think this will be one of the least muddy threads here in the Pit.

On a sad note: it will most likely be due to lack of participation. hahaha.

Unfortunately, that will prove my point: people this election cycle just can't sell their candidate, but find it easier to bash the opposition.

I'm probably going to vote for Hillary Clinton.

She's got a lot of experience in government and knows law. The list of her accomplishments as FLOTUS, Senator and Secretary of State, is lengthy. She's worked closely with two presidents and is ready to hit the ground running and won't have to "ramp up" to the presidency. She's very knowledgeable about the dynamics between the US and other countries and has visited and spoken with many world leaders and knows the protocol involved in working with them. She's very intelligent, level-headed and pragmatic. She's been in the trenches and knows what to expect.

She is progressive on women's rights and equity, and an activist for women and children, specifically health care. She also supports the civil rights and equity of minorities and wants to raise the minimum wage. She's also open to cannabis and wants to stop imprisoning people for its use.

I believe that voting Democrat can enable Congress to swing back to the left, and continue with Obama's policies. With a Democratically-controlled congress, and less obstruction efforts, legislation will actually get done.

I want her to appoint the next Supreme Court Justice, as I believe she would choose someone who is also level-headed, fair and would be true to the Constitution.

She's serious about taking action to combat climate change and supports cleaner energy.

Hillary Clinton's Accomplishments

Something I can actually read, enjoy, and absorb various candidates' policy plans... without all the sideshow circus follies.

Thanks bossman !

The candidate I could advocate for didn't win the nomination, so I have yet to decide how best to use my vote. A protest vote by writing in Bernie. A vote for Johnson to get third party numbers up even though I disagree with portions of his platform, which saddens me because I loved his platform mostly in 2012 and did in fact vote for him then. Jill Stein whom I love but she disappointed me a bit this round too, I protested and marched with her once and loved her passion and words, looked into what she's all about much more in depth afterwards and on isidewith.com I always come up about 97% with her.

So what can I advocate? I guess I will advocate for refusing to vote for the lesser of two evils regardless of whom you think that is. Use your vote to protest or use it to propel a third party you believe in. It can work... Johnson had about 1% of the vote in 2012, this year it looks like he might get 6%. Still daunting but it's progress.

Well, even though your candidate didn't get nominated, why not sell them anyways?

What I mean is: Gush about them on here in this thread.

I certainly will not bash them, and actually would be interested to hear your thoughts on them, and why you supported them. I can't promise someone else won't do that.

I will certainly applaud your effort, and believe it or not, while I know I come off as a right wing red neck, I really do listen to everyone and what they have to say. I might be a red neck, but certainly not a ignorant one that ignores people.
