A Space Man's Dream

The day had finally arrived. A new breakthrough. A new threshold for man's never ending quest to explore. To go to deep space, where no human had ever ventured. Captain Johnny Muellar had many experiences in battle during a Pacific campaign and in a war theatre in deep Asia, as a calm, determined, and disciplined pilot.

Johnny grew up in a sleepy town just outside of Rapid City, SD. As a young boy, he had always had a fascination with looking at the stars and dreaming what else was out there. Johnny was an exceptional athelete as well, and during his college baseball career at the University of Colorado, a number of amateur scouts had an eye on his southpaw fast ball. But, Johnny new his calling was ultimately to matriculate to the Air Force in Colorado Springs.

After his active days in combat and reconnaisance work with highly classified Special Access projects, involving multiple next generation propulsion systems, Capt. Muellar was the first choice for this historic mission into deep space. This was like no mission before. A single-manned Space exploration into the deepness of Space that no human had ever attempted, and perhaps not to occur for many more years to come. This was a one way mission. Capt. Muellar was aboard the Earth Ship II which was using a revolutionary Replicating Biological Electro-Magnetic Molecular propulsion system. In the 'Black World' known as the R-BEMM. Although, being unveiled publicly for the first time on the launch pad, this technology had secretly been in use for over fifty years.

It's power combined theories by Tesla and Einstein, which used the heating and cooling of biological molecules in a condensed controlled atmosphere which at a certain temperature and electrical pulse, would replicate, and never end with providing unlimited power and propulsion. Johnny was excited, friends, family, the country and indeed the world waited with anxious anticipation as the countdown for lift-off wound down to the final minutes in the cool, early morning at EASA (Earth's Air and Space Administration) site, in Cape Canaveral, in Florida, USA.

As the countdown came down to seconds, Johnny could feel his mind going through his rigorous training, focus and the historic nature of this event escaped him. An enormous Roar sounded as the Armstrong 7 first stage rocket inched ever so slowly from the landing pad, as the faint sound over the speakers could be heard of "we have lift off of Earth's first deep space manned mission to the stars never witnessed by a human" The gallery was transfixed, and the Earth's population watched on multiple devices as the slow ascent, quickly and suddenly disappeard into the atmosphere, and as the remaining remnants of the countdown dissipated, Earth Ship II was already moving out of low-earth space orbit as the Armstrong 7 rocket booster disembarked, leaving the 20X15 foot or 15.24 meter capsule to accelerate using the revolutionary R-BEMM.

Although the interior of the craft was modest, it had everything for a one man crew to last indefinitely utilizing the produce, water, and seemingly infinite number of freeze dried packets of assorted food. One item, not on the inventory list, a small six pack of Orange Crush soda that Capt. Muellar had stowed away with help from one of the storage technicians. Ever since Johnny was a youngster, Orange Crush was his special drink of choice. Hard to find these days. Today was 9 Nov 2029, Johnny's 38th birthday, a special day indeed.

All systems were a go. As Johnny went through his check list and checked all the dials and settings, a certain feeling of quick fear passed through, and just as quickly, looking out the windows of the captains' bridge, his head began to shake and a smile crossed his head, the feeling of joy was overwhelming. Already into a fifteen hour day, Johnny knew it was important to get some rest.

He put all settings on Auto, and found is way into a simple, but ample bed that when he laid down, a port-hole window allowed him to look out into infinity of space. Earth Space II had mastered anti-gravity with a rolling module as part of the craft, therefore, Johnny felt no discomfort as he slowly fell into a deep sleep, it had been a long day. It had seemed only very shortly after he fell asleep that suddenly the peace was broken by what sounded like a faint voice.

Johnny woke up a little dazed, to figure out what he had just heard. Then, a voice became clearer...... "Johnny wake up sweeheart, Happy Birthday you big 9 year old. Mommy has made you your favorite breakfast, pancakes and bacon, hurry now, before it gets cold and you are late for school"

Capt. Muellar laid there, and a grin and happiness filled his spirit, and he jumped out of bed to go devour his birthday breakfast.

A Space Man's Dream

Peace
