s

In a heavy population it can be bad. The shallow depth makes it worse.

I think mine is called 'emerging breaking news', it runs on my desktop all the time. I had to tweakm it or I got news that wasn;t very important. It is sometimes slow, sometimes very fast.

links starting to appear in my regular browser: pix11.com...

maybe it's your router that's making it fluctuate in speed. I have a router separate, and a (cable) box that doubles as a modem that's 1 unit, and online everyone says the those modem/box units give you crappy Wifi and internet speed in general fluctuates because of it.

Thanks for the info, I've asked friends on social media if they know of News Aggregators for a Mac so I'm sure I'll get a few hits.

It seems heavy damage expected at the epicenter. It was felt in Rome, and all over Central Italy.

Hearing of damage

From Stormdancer's link

It's a tragedy'The mayor of Amatrice, Sergio Pirozzi, has called the quake a "tragedy". Speaking to Radio Rai, he said: "I'm trying to contact the services. The town doesn't exist anymore. The ancient doors have come down. We need help from the civic protection.""There is no light, it's all gone off. It's all rubble, it's a tragedy."

The aftershocks seem to be going up in magnitude. Though this one starts with the 6.1, the USGS had a smaller one 5 min before that.
