Sorry, Hollywood, I'd rather have a man who's not afraid to own a gun than one who's too afraid to defend himself.

It's a movie. It isn't going to give you one or the other.

Doesn't matter. I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to buy the premise.

You talked about the kind of man you prefer, which really has nothing to do with your ability to buy the premise of the movie or not and, the movie isn't offering you any man.

ETA: And the guys in the movie are pro guns, they're your type of men. How can you not like that?

Why am I supposed to care about this, again??

Speaking as a gun owner, I'm not terribly worried about this.

The gun grabbers **ahem** ((mind outta the gutter, you...)) in the various state houses, Congress, and the White House are the ones I'd be worrying about...

A poorly made indy film, I'm supposing since it won't play for some odd reason--I'll try again later...or not, it's really not that important, isn't going to do enough damage to matter.

Easy, I can't identify with the women in the movie. As a woman, I tend to identify with the female characters too, but I feel they are unrealistic or at the least don't speak to me.

However, if the men are being protrayed as gun toting Neanderthals, why wouldn't they simply take what they want even if the women say no? Isn't that the uncivilized and brutish protrayal Hollywood wants people to think of gun owners? So here you have a bunch of gun-toting Neanderthal heathens who clearly have all the power and then some women say no ... so they meekly give up?

Riiiight. That doesn't fulfill the popular stereotypes Hollywood pushes.

First off it's not a Hollywood production. Second the neanderthal description is the OPs and now you are just repeating it.

Of course none of that changes the fact that you came in talking about the type of men you prefer without a peep about identifying with the female characters.

You shot from the hip and missed.

I hope the Hollywood elite's body guards succumb to this peer pressure campaign and stop carrying guns.

my biggest issue with guns in hollywood is that the actors ( even jason stathem) are holding the guns wrong and look like they dont know what theyre doing. Whats with the finger inside the trigger gaurd? Aweful gun safety or discipline. Muzzle sweeps past heads all sorts of questionable stuff. Sorta shows tacitly that hollywood know F all about guns.

As for going without sex. Hollywood does know about this thing called internet porn and this other thing called ones hand. Its often superior to having to deal with a fickle partner

Well, me, too. What's that have to do with anything?

They're not, though. These guys look like regular dudes... They seem like nice, regular guys, not "neanderthal" at all. One guy even quotes "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"... Sure, there's a few goofballs, but it's a comedy.

Isn't that the uncivilized and brutish protrayal Hollywood wants people to think of gun owners?

The only people who think these guys are being portrayed as uncivilized and brutish are you and the OP, as far as I can see...

That doesn't fulfill the popular stereotypes Hollywood pushes.

What are you talking about? For decades, Hollywood has portrayed men with guns (in action and military movies) as strong, sexy, confident, committed, passionate men! And this movie, A: is a COMEDY and B: Isn't out of Hollywood!

It's a movie trailer, not a government action to take away your rights.

Whatever--this movie seems to be as ridiculous as its earning will no doubt be at the box office. And for those of you who think it's okay to praise the diversity of free speech in Hollywood, yet see fit to berate others on here about using their right to criticize this movie, just stop--your hypocrisy is palpable.

Oh cry us a river for christs sake.
You're not being berated for your free speech rights to criticize the movie.
You're being berated for your faux whiny outrage over "all hollywood is out to get us whaaaa" "see what victims we are".

One little comedy about anti gun views & oh my gawd the world is out to git us.

Damn, grow a pair.
K~

I do not understand the fascination with giving a damn about anything people in the entertainment industry say.

Who gives a schmidt? Seriously. These people are no more important or intelligent than you or me.

What a waste of film! Well, can increase the list of actors whose work won't see a dime of my money! From the cast list, not missing much, anyway. Heck, might not even make the theater where we live!
