Wouldn't you want 10 days of water and 10 days of food?

The Germans are slipping.

It is interesting that the government would feel compelled to require it.

Especially since their policies (& the West/UN/Israel) create the terrorism & strife that threatens their people. Of course, it might refer to an existential threat. There's been a lot of grumbling in other sources as of late as well....hmm

Doom porn yay.

That whole thing(to scare the people and make them beg for a police- and surveillance state) seems to be a running joke, i can`t stop laughing. It´s really all over the news here in germany, today. Like:

"We don´t want to scare somebody, but we have to report every 5 minutes that german citizen should better become preppers..."

I love those MSM news, it´s like political cabaret, if you see the motives behind the actions of the MSM propaganda.
That reminds me to "our" interiour minister DeMaiziere, asked about a fishy terror alarm and the cancellation of a football match between Germany and the Netherlands in Hannover. His answer, asked about who warned and what from:
"Parts of that response would unsettle the people..."
He even talked about a "leap of faith" from the people to the officials in this "serious scenario". And at the end, it was nothing, really nothing.

Sure, people feel safer if the officials are working secretly, if they don´t give answers about the very, very fishy circumstances of a terror attack that was none. Many people believe this was nothing else than an exercise under live conditions, again under that cheap "terror" excuse. How should people not become unsettled or conspiracy theorists, with officials like this, with actions like this?

But all that is, for sure... NOT part of the agenda to unsettle the people, to fear them. To make them beg for a surveillance- and police state, for german army on domestic ground...

No, no, the officials are doing everything to keep the people calm, so they would have more problems to install the next big brother upgrade...

i hear a lot of reasons on why they should stockpile food, personally i hope its because planet X is coming because out of all the conspiracy theories there is, a planet with our alien overlords on it that passes by now and again is by far the most interesting. personally i am struggling to come up with an actual reason for them to come out with this, so i go back to the must obvious, to create fear! Thats what Governments do Create fear because it controls the masses, no doubt there will be some terrorist things happening there in the near future, just to keep the fear bubbling over while they are planning there next fear factor exercise, increased assaults, bird flu, war, cancer, etc etc, the scary thing is that the Nocebo effect is real, and our governments are pumping negativity and fear at us from all angles...................

Right now i had another idea.
Maybe we are under attack, and the defense is breaking.

What i mean is our infrastructure, like electricity, water.
As we germans know, we live in "Neuland". That´s what Merkel said about the Internet, not long ago. If you look at our broadband "expansion", you will see that germany is a digital third world country.
Our officials are old farts, relicts from the first cold war. They have not the vaguest notion of the internet, that "evil thing".

If you have such people in power, then you can maybe imagine how we fight cyber attacks, maybe cyberattacks on nuclear plants or waterworks. Maybe they know more than they want to tell us, "to not unsettle the people"...

Saw an interview on MSM N24 in germany, with that ridiciolous Rainer Wendt from that funny union Deutsche Polizeigewerkschaft (DPolG) right now. He is only used for the MSM, for interviews, but he and his union have no power!
His words, asked if that all is maybe fear mongering:
"No, this is realpolitics..."

But then they asked him about hoarding of weapons to be prepared
"NO, NO, that wouldn´t be useful..."
Yep, if "the russian knock on you cellar door"(xD), or "IS" terrorists, we throw the hoarded water bottles, coal, batteries, candles and wood at them to defend us...

Come on, one must be really blind to not see the motivation behind all that.
They "want us people to be prepared", but defenseless!
Tell me, who profits from such a scenario???
Terrorists, the russians, aliens, bigfoot?
Or maybe a government that has to deal with uprising people?

If there is really a threat, i bet it´s because of our infrastructure. I bet the hacks getting more and more, and our Neuländers have problems to maintain defense.

Or they have a deal with the author of the book Blackout, Marc Elsberg, because that book is mentioned the whole time since the advices. Elsberg will be happy for this advertising by the fearmongerers.

Btw, he book is about hacks on the infrastructure, smart electricity meters are hacked in italy, the whole european electricity infrastructure is under hacker attacks, the power grid breaks down, people die from cold, food shortage, missing medical care and riots... Just saying...

Even that clown Rainer Wendt mentioned that book. We have a phrase in germany:
Nachtigall, ick hör dir trapsen

In english it means:
I can tell which way the wind is blowing

Because they recently invaded Ukraine to secure their strategic interests in Crimea,

The destabilization of the Ukraine was a Western initiative, wake up people

www.globalresearch.ca...

The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) is helping biotech run the latest war in Ukraine. Make no mistake that what is happening in the Ukraine now is deeply tied to the interests of Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, and other big players in the poison food game. Monsanto has an office in Ukraine. While this does not shout ‘culpability’ from every corner, it is no different than the US military’s habit to place bases in places that they want to gain political control. The opening of this office coincided with land grabs with loans from the IMF and World Bank to one of the world’s most hated corporations – all in support of their biotech takeover. Previously, there was a ban on private sector land ownership in the country – but it was lifted ‘just in time’ for Monsanto to have its way with the Ukraine. In fact, a bit of political maneuvering by the IMF gave the Ukraine a $17 billion loan – but only if they would open up to biotech farming and the selling of Monsanto’s poison crops and chemicals – destroying a farmland that is one of the most pristine in all of Europe. Farm equipment dealer, Deere, along with seed producers Dupont and Monsanto, will have a heyday.

Basically it is saying to do your weekly shop as normal

Actually, Europeans have a different approach to doing their marketing; traditionally they will buy fresh bread, vegetables, and meat daily, or as needed.

Actually, as a European that's news to me. Of course if bread is no longer fresh and I/we want to eat bread we won't wait until the end of week to buy, but typically aim for a weekly shop. Not sure why you think otherwise? Very large generalisation.

If such a war happens, some bottles of water, batteries and stuff(that average people keep at home anyway) would help for or against what?

In that case we would need maybe hidden bunkers(for trying to hide from everything) with food, water and all that stuff for months or even years, not only 5 or 10 days! And/or a lot of weapons and ammo! And nobody must know of your hideout, your stockpiles, really nobody.

If i had to, i would kill enemies only for their guns and ammo. Because if you have guns and ammo in such a situation, you are never hungry, thirsty or whatever.

Because then, average life is dominated by the law of the jungle, the weak get eaten first...

But let´s stay realistic, they just try to fear us people here in germany. Many people are speculating how wonderful that for the industry is, if 80 millions of people start to buy water, food and all that.
Problem is, we are around 82 millions, but have only a few idiots that storm into the supermarkets and stores now and start to prepare for 5-10 days, in preparation for whatever "breaks loose".

Next problem is, the mentioned good we should hoard we have allready at our homes, except that amount of water. But no problem, here it rains after three days of sunshine for two weeks in the summer, and almost the rest of the year, so water is no problem here.

Really I think you are reading too much into this.

It's common sense to have some food tucked away, a stocked panty if you will, in case the electric goes out, or due to storms getting out is difficult. There are many normal reasons not related to "fear mongering" to have a few supplies put back just in case.

Many countries practice for natural disasters and the Govt makes lists of supplies as part of that. Here in the US it was a GREAT joke that we were told to keep duct tape and plastic sheets on hand!! LOL!!!

People forget over time and get lazy. It doesn't happen often, but occasionally we have weather events that make getting out impossible and there is always some news footage of a person who didn't stock up extra whining they "had to do without".

Just look at all the young people who haven't been around long enough to realize that an electrical outage means also that you can't get gas, the ATM's won't work, stores can't sell you anything cause their registers are down. That if you don't already have something you can't acquire it either.

I think that this is just more of a "public service announcement" by the German Govt and not something nefarious. It just seems shocking because it's something that isn't routine to you. Here in the US and other countries these public service announcements are run all the time. Every storm, every period of hot weather, every season change.

So the Russians in Kaliningorod are perfectly safe and there is no reason for Russia to move troops to the Polish border? Or should the exclave just be handed back to Germany or Poland?

Maybe six or seven years ago, we (in the U.S.) starting gets ads on TV to pack 'bug-out bags". The ad showed a couple in their home and the ground started shaking, they were tossed around a little so they grabbed the bag and were out the door.

I remember wondering "what is that really about? It was a little freaky.

The funny thing is, i am 42 now, living in germany the whole time, and i never ever witnessed a blackout.
And this is middle europe, natural desasters are not common here. In 42 years, i didn´t witness a natural desaster here. Once there was a bigger earthquake some decades ago, the top of a church crashed down and some plates fell out of peoples shelfs. Ah, and the river rhine has sometimes high tide, but that´s more a problem for those who live only several meters away from the rhine. It can`t be because of natural desasters here.

If it doesn´t start to shower meteors for example, i can´t see a natural disaster coming, why should those disasters start right now, right here, where never something in this direction happens?
We have no tornado alley´s or seasons here, fortunately. The volcanos in the Eifel are cold since several thousands of years, and here is no earthquake area that is known for it´s perennially disastrous earthquakes.

And you are right, it´s common sense to have that listed goods at an average household, and everybody does, except maybe those that spend their money rather for the newest spyPhone, X-Box, Playstation, games for around 100 Euros(all inclusive, DLCs and stuff) or similiar. Even people living from social welfare own this things, because, as you said, it´s very common.

That´s why i come to that fearmongering stuff. There is no reason to tell the people they should buy what they buy and own anyway, what they keep at home anyway. But it makes sense when the big brothers demand more and more of the peoples liberty and freedom, "to keep them save". That can be achived with spreading fear.

Rulers are able to rule only because of the peoples fears!
So a society without fear is beyond their control. The same problems they have with educated people, or with monetary independent people. That´s why a little circle of rich people have the money for the right education of their kids, those kids will be monetary independent and educated, while the so called 99% are undereducated and wage slaves. Without any lobby, without power. As people think, but they forgot the power of the masses.

I am drifting, if you would follow what´s happening in germany like i do, you would come to the same conclusion, all that is part of fearmongering in favor of installing the next big brother update, without people protesting against it, or even rioting.

With this little trick, if you play the only one "saviour" from all evil, by "only" demanding and taking away the peoples freedom and liberty in exchange for alleged "safety", people are even thankful and will celebrate you for your alleged "salvation". The only tool you need to reach your goals is the peoples fear, nothing else.

Try to see the crimean thing like this:

It´s Cuba(but the crimea is way more worth than cuba ever could be). The russians install their puppets in the cuban government, to open the way for russian corporations like russian monsanto or russian dupont, for example. And to provoke the USA, with military exercises right in front of the border of the USA, for example.
What would the US do in that case?

Oh, wait, didn´t we have something similiar some decades, not that long ago?
And how did this almost end?
It seems that the greed of some people makes them unable to learn from the past.
As sad as it sounds...

Actually, Cuba commands a much more strategic position than Crimea; it dominates the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, highly trafficked by strategic shipping, including oil. Crimea is of value only to Russia because it gives Russia a warm water port. Access to the rest of the world's waterways are controlled by Turkey, a NATO power. This makes Russia's possession of Crimea essentially a symbolic gesture.

In the 1960s, the Soviet Union did make Cuba a client state, and many strategists favored American intervention. A failed counter-revolution was launched, then the status quo acknowledged. The USSR's attempts to put strategic missiles there were negotiated away, and peace prevailed until the dissolution of the Soviet empire. Relations between the United States and Cuba are now normalizing, because both parties see the advantages of cooperation.

This is unlike the situation on the Batic. Kaliningorod/Koenigsburg gives Russia another year round port, but its lines of communication are cut by the Suwalki Gap. Eventually, Russia will need to secure the Gap if it wants Kaliningorod to be a secure asset.

They just want to scare us, so that big brother makes the last 20m of his 100m run since 9/11 even faster than the 80m before.

You read the original story in Frankfurter Allgemeine, right?

To me it reads more like an official suggestion than an official demand, that people stockpile food and water.

I know you CAN read the parts "Die Bevölkerung soll durch geeignete Maßnahmen angehalten werden" und "Die Bevölkerung wird angehalten, einen individuellen Vorrat an Lebensmitteln von zehn Tagen vorzuhalten" like demands, but given the context - I do not think it should. That sort of wording is not unusual in suggestions on how to deal with potential problems.

You might know this, but for the others on the thread:

"angehalten" has two different meanings but both have the same origin.
"angehalten" is used for being stopped physically (-> etwas anhalten -> (to) stop something)
but it´s also used to express to stop a second and think about the . It can be used friendly, but often it´s used to get someone in line. Then the one saying this is often "ungehalten", that means "not in a friendly mood". A bit complicated.

But in this case, it´s not mandatory. It´s a friendly reminder.
