Syrian forces are their masters?

According to the article in the OP, it was to save the hundreds of civilians they were keeping as hostages.

But the jihadists had hundreds of civilians in captivity — and were using them as human shields.

Not by my take of the situation. The Isis fighters WANTED to surrender which is practically unheard. Even the article says that the militants caught everyone off guard.

Whoops. Guess they weren't expecting that....

It probably caught them off guard because, as the article also says, it's the first time they've done that.

Col. Chris Garver, a spokesman for American coalitions fighting ISIS, said the surprise move likely saved the lives of hostages held by the terror group. According to USA Today, this is the first time ISIS has agreed to surrender its weapons and walk away unscathed from a fight with American-led forces.

In case you all missed this point they were being followed by drones...so just because they didn't die there who says they didn't get the ultimate fate after leaving?

I guess that part got overlooked for the US bashing...

Do you guys really believe the West cares about 100-200 ISIS fighters in Syria?

not at all, the US has shown its quite comfortable destroying a building housing that many..

But see, the US cannot just let them be captured or killed. If they are captured by either Russia or Syria.. they are going to be tortured for information (the same way the west would torture someone for information).. what do you think they are going to say? They will talk about the assistance from the US and Turkey, they will give them intel and point out where to find proof.

If the US just abandons them to be butchered, then no one else in Syria or Iraq would trust, follow or fight for the US any more. If word got out the US would destroy you themselves if you faced defeat.. why the hell would anyone fight for them?

I am not saying every foot soldier has a radio and takes orders from some US guy, but ultimately its the US making the decisions and giving instructions either via proxy or directly.

It sux, I hear you.. but you cannot ignore the reality

The Russian Defense Ministry is accusing the Pentagon of fighting the Islamic State in ‘word only’ after the U.S. military refused to share targeting and intelligence information with Vladimir Putin’s forces.
Pentagon spokeswoman Michelle Baldanza recently said the U.S. would not “cooperate with Russia on Syria until they change their strategy of supporting Assad and instead focus on ISIL.”

www.washingtontimes.com...

“The US-led coalition spent a whole year pretending they were striking ISIL targets but where are the results of these strikes?” Pushkov asked.

The Americans have been “pretending” all along, he continued. “It’s the intensity that is important. The US coalition pretended to bomb Daech for a year, but there are no results. If you do it in a much more efficient way, the results will be seen.” He added that in his view, 80 percent of all the US strikes have been pointless.

Playing the dumb card? Look up US boots on ground in Syria. They are the terrorists controllers.

You think they are 'helping' Assad?

A little cash, and the promise of more. Average peoples situation is so dire they will do anything (for anyone) for a little carrot on a stick.

This sort of thing will continue as long as the US continues to back terrorist forces in Syria.

The war can be ended quickly. End ALL support to anti-Government groups, transfer all intelligence on the Islamic State, Al-Nusra and affiliates to the Al-Assad Government and their Allies and if necessary assist the Syrian-Russian-Iranian alliance directly against the terrorists and foreign mercenaries.

It wouldn't hurt to go after the regional supporters of anti-government terrorist groups in Syria either. But that'd mean going after the likes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and I don't see the current administration doing that.

This will never happen though. It has never been about fighting terrorism. It has always been about influence. The whole Arab Spring was intended to oust anti-western leaders from power and install friendly regimes, preferably ones who are also friendly to Israel. Syria is very Pro-Russian and a hardline opponent of Israel. If a few Pro-western leaders like Mubarak got swept out as well no worries they can be easily replaced.

The results speak for themselves. Libya is a quagmire in a state of anarchy, after a few years of chaos Egypt got a Military Dictatorship LESS friendly to the US, and Syria is, well, Syria. A complete disaster of a policy.

Ron Paul was right when he said the US should withdraw from the Middle East.

I dont think the 'Syrian militia' has drones. Once they gave up the citizen hostages and left the city said drones should have blown them to bits not watched to see if they did not turn back. What a joke..

Um... Hmmm.

You realise that all Obama has actually done, is continue the illegitimate rape of the Middle East, as has every American president since the Middle East became a concern? The groundwork that was laid for the clusterbang we find ourselves in the midst of currently, was laid in the eighties. Obama could be Tony Starks brother from another mother, full suit of armour and support gear and all that, and still not have solved that worth a damn.

The only way to stop the next president continuing to oppress other nations financially and militarily, overtly or covertly, is to place limitations on the power of the intelligence services, the military, and the president and congress too, such that they cannot act in any matter, at any level, without public permission being given in every instance, with an understanding that any failure to comply with that format, will result in the immediate arrest and conviction of any party in violation, of the crime of treason against the people, with a life term in a hard, nasty jail.
Whoa, Whoa, slow down pardner. You're talking crazy talk! If we did like you suggest then America would actually be a Free Republic as it was intended to be, we can't have that!! Think of poor oligarchy😢 How could they suppress the whole world with tyranny when there would be things like freedom and justice and the little people having power?!?! THE HORROR, THE HORROR.

The Battle was in Manbij, 70 days Siege by US and SDF forces. ISIS was surrounded and had kept 100s of civilians as hostages.
I assume an agreement was reaches to leave the hostages alone and they would be given free passage.

Did you not read the article or understand tactics? The isis fighters had hostages and were using them as shields. The Americans got them to surrender their weapons and leave the city under drone surveillance. Said drones are still following them. Which will hopefully lead us to more isis bases. Providing us with more valuable Intel to take them down with.

I'm sure they also followed them to an isis stronghold thus providing us with valuable Intel and a new bombing target.

Why don't you think that opposition forces have drones/uavs? Even of the most basic kind? SDF have released images of claimed ISIS convoy with human shields leaving Manbij. Even the most basic of commercially available drones can mount a camera. The SDF also have footage of captured ISIS drones, some crudely armed.
