Over the past year there has been talk of China sending advisor, which I believe has happened. China has remained quiet for sometime on this issue, but it is clear who they would back.

China and Russia is now on the same page. Get used to it.

If true, good. Assad needs all the help he can get to defeat the terrorists.

It'd be quite a radical change in China's foreign policy, which generally stresses non-interference in the affairs of other nations. But under the Chairmanship of Xi Jinping China's foreign policy has become far more assertive as of late.
