This is off topic, but the Democratic Party attracted Southern racists because of Lincoln's legacy. When the East Coast Democrats like the Kennedys embraced the civil rights movement, it alienated them; Johnson's pragmatic continuation of the policy "lost the South." The more conservative Southerners were increasingly drawn to the Republican party, in no small measure due to Goldwater's views. Nevertheless, there were a few segregationist Congressmen who remained loyal to the party. Since these heritage Congressmen could deliver votes in the South, their racist views were overlooked by their fellow Democrats. Byrd is one such example.

What is going on in the Republican party is not that its leaders are overlooking retrograde opinions among some of its members in order to maintain party unity, they are dismayed that a candidate is attracting a whole new constituency that challenges some of their fundamental values.

Hypothesis 1, the worse case:

Terrorist, and other enemies of the United States, see and use her election to harp on their view that the US is weak and corrupt.

Terrorists accelerate attacks inside the US, often using legally purchased guns.

Hillary uses this to declare a national emergency and bans all gun ownership by private citizens and then declares
the NRA a terrorist organization further spitting the American people.

With all hell breaking loose Hillary's friends in the military declare martial law and Hillary approves this by
executive action.

The United States of America as the nation you know ceases to exist

You are right about one thing - America is on the brink of ending, never to return. I wonder will the country be renamed? It should be.. maybe Clintonia after it's first Queen, a beacon for socialism and class divide and a haven for elites tired of having to worry about things like the law.

No, I think a strong America, devoid of war mongering and nation building, is vital for the world. Right now America is in the final stages of destroying the middle east and leading a huge class divide right across the Western world, something it will never recover from if it is allowed to continue much longer.
