These are some good and logical points against the idea. I'm mostly against it because then I'd have two sales taxes to pay on everything I bought. Well I guess I live near enough to Delaware that I could reduce it to one sales tax every so often...

And when the MSM saw his Net Worth they ripped his a$$ for being an elitist and out-of-touch with the American People. There is no way for a Republican to win.

So what you are saying is that Trump shouldn't release his tax returns because it will prove that he is an out-of-touch elitist?

Her personal tax records. She still hasn't released last years records for the Clinton Foundation.

Hmm. Wonder why?

Oh what, the FBI is doing a probe into the Clinton Foundation? Pure coincidence

The thing is I can MOVE if I don't like my local government whether it is to a different village, town, city, or state. People can vote with their wallets and feet.

With the Feds, you CANNOT escape which is why it is important they they be as small as possible.

You can't really move. Most people are bound to where they live by their families, their jobs, and other commitments.

Furthermore, nothing stops you from moving now. Why can't you go to another country? Because you like it in the US? What happens when taxes are on a state level, you're just going to come back and say you shouldn't be forced to move to another state because you like where you are.

WTH are you talking about? People move all the time. I've made conscious decisions not to move to certain cities and states based on cost of living alone. Why do you think so many blue hairs move to Florida? It isn't solely because of the weather.

My wife had a job opportunity in CA. We decided against it because even after the bump in pay, it was a net loss for us financially after factoring in increased state taxes and the absurd cost of living. It simply wasn't worth it.

Cities and states are forced to compete with each other to attract residents and businesses. Taxes, local government, schools, etc are all part of what people consider when relocating somewhere. Sure some people won't move, but that is their personal decision.

Since Trump gets bashed by the MSM for everything he says and does, there's nothing to gain for him by releasing his tax returns. Those who like Trump more than Hillary don't care. Those who do care aren't relevant...as they're voting for Hillary or someone else anyway.

And given that the average Gruber voter doesn't understand different tax rates for things like capital gains, carried interest, etc it was easy to paint him as not paying his fair share.

With the MSM solidly left there is no positive outcome for any wealthy conservative to release their tax returns.

Romney didn't exactly help himself on this front when he claimed he was paying 39.8%, and then an additional 15% in capital gains on top of that. Maybe if he was honest in the first place he would have won.

That was his EFFECTIVE rate, not the actual rate. Again, Gruber voters not understanding tax code and various forms of income. Very easy for the left to play off people's ignorance with sound bites stating some rich guy paid less effective rate.

but he is a billionaire as far as i know. and i know based on a forbes estimated net worth of trump ..
I see. "As far as I know" passes for evidence these days... What happened to ATS?

as far as i know followed by "AND I KNOWBASED ON A FORBES ESTIMATED NETWORTH of 4.5 billion." that part you left out in my quote...weird eh

what passes as evidence is simple inquisition and research. i researched, and told you my source. yet you quote the first part not the source where i got it from. ill just post it for you, but im sure some other ad hom will be in effect. 4.5b

Well actually you just said Forbes said that. You never actually posted a source. So I just ignored that statement. I tend to not trust hearsay. Nor do I have any obligation to hunt down and fact check your sources for you when you don't post them. If you are going to be too lazy to post a source, I'm just going to be lazy and assume you are lying.

Now that you posted the source though I accept it as credible.

How someone made their fortunes has a direct correlation with their itemized tax return.
say i win 450 million jackpot tomorrow, vice a person who was in say real estate for 40 year who has a net worth of the same 450 million. our tax returns will be quite different. and the difference is how i acquired my fortune. exactly like i said.

So what? That wasn't what I was talking about. So let me rephrase it a bit more specifically. How someone made their fortune has no baring on a Presidential candidate following established precedent within the elections of releasing his tax returns.

That's nice Hillary, now how about you release something we CARE about, like your speech transcripts from Goldman Sachs.... You question Donald's business dealings, well, I question yours... You claim transparency, so lets see it...

This doesn't make any sense in context to the post of mine you are responding to. Are you reading the same thread as me or are you just randomly typing out whatever random partisan slur you can think of as you hit the reply button?

The media clammed up when they saw that Mitt Romney had donated millions of dollars to charities. None of the talking heads, or experts had donated anything close to the percentages that Mitt had over the years.

If Donald Trump donated $100 million dollars to a 100 charities tomorrow, the media would say that it's all smoke and mirrors...an attempt to buy the election by generating empathy.

Relatively few, compared to recent elections. If ATS took a poll, I'd wager that 95% of members have already made up their minds.

Only a fool would assume ATS is an accurate sampling of the entire country's opinions.

Mom is just chipping in to pay Chelsea's cushy salary at the foundation.

Nothing wrong with that.

It is not cheap for a family who has never worked a real job in their lives to rub elbows with the NYC billionaire elite like the Trumps.

Chelsea's job as director of IAC/Daily Beast, running propaganda for her parent's political machine and pushing stories outing gay olympic athletes does not pay enough.

Yeah. Repeating yourself and quoting my post doesn't automatically mean it makes sense compared to what I typed.

For one Hillary has released her tax returns going back 40 years. For two, Bernie Sanders also released his tax returns. The ONLY person this is a problem for is the Trumpet.

So DO tell. What is this double standard you are alluding to? I SO look forward to whatever hyperbole/false equivalence you'll bring up to "prove" your point. I'm going to guess you'll take a stab at those speeches of Hillary's she won't release, disregarding that that is an apples to oranges comparison. But let's wait and see. This is exciting!

An ATS-wide poll would be as accurate as any other reliable poll, because there are many forums here.

Our family left a church because the pastor was taking 90% all the donations/tithes, and paying salaries to family members who did very little at the church, beyond collecting the tithes and donations.
