Star Tropics, all the early Marios, and the oldest that I really loved I suppose would be Xevious or Hang On.

Newer old-ish games: Ocarina of Time, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue.

What was the old arcade game where you started out as a guy and were able to jump into tanks of different types. Machine gun tank, heavy arty tank? And you could swivel the turrets with a knob? And if you were caught outside of a tank, you were basically effed? Tank commander maybe?
And I forgot ikari Warriors. Best co op game ever.

All time favorite...not due to the graphics, nor the gameplay, but the storyline of SoulBlazer and its sequel Illusion of Gia really captivated me when they came out. Couldn't say why.

To those who said Everquest...All I can say is : "Teaching snakes to kick..."

Props to anyone who can remember this game. I first played it in the seventh grade on a Texas Instruments calculator.

Depending on how old we're talking about here...

Does StarCraft 1 count as being old?

Otherwise, I find that SimEarth is pretty fun. And it's nearly a decade older than StarCraft.

My favorite of all times is Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Gamecube, a horror game on Lovecraftian themes where you could play different characters in different eras (European Middle Age, 1760s America, VIIth century Middle-East), all with their corresponding weapons and ambiances. I remember the "sanity gauge"; when it was empty the character started to hallucinate, you could have your head blowing up, the game could go mute or even pretend to switch off the tv, that was goddamn scary to play alone at night, in the dark ...!

The one that comes to my mind as the one i played the most and gave me the most enjoyment was Shanobi II on the gamegear only (you can get a emulator for this for PC and i have, its still awesome!)

The game ive played for the longest time however is EvE Online, ive been playing this amazing MMORPG for 13 years and still enjoy it, however im picking shanobi II due to its cult classic status and how it made many long car trips a joy!!!
